Been Around the Block
Hello folks. As always, impressed with culture of knowledge sharing and assistance that a quality forum brings.

My name is Shaun and I live west of Jacksonville, Florida. I've recently fallen in love with early 70's Honda small displacements. Looking for a 350 to get started on. I'm not extremely mechanically inclined, though I can just about do anything I see someone else do once. We had an early 70's MG Midget that soured me for a few years on owning something that old without a mechanic's background. However, I think some of it was my fault for choosing the one I did. Plus, it was mostly Lucas stuff, so what should I have expected?

So, for that reason, I am liking the simplicity of a small moto. Also, I am thinking about finding one that a shop/restorer has already gone through to start me off in a next to new condition - then I can tweak cosmetics.

Any suggestions or general insight to keep in mind as I kick off?

How far from Gainesville are ya? I have someone here that is always getting older bikes and making them mechanically sound.

Let me know if he has any Hondas now. I would even like his info in case I find something and need a local/trusted bike mechanic. I'd always rather have a personal recommendation than to hunt for someone on my own.

He is trying to start a club here specific to cafe racers. Right now, he is working on a SV650 and has a totally stock GS750 with less than 5k miles. I know he has a Honda also but not sure of the model/size. There is suppose to be a meeting this week to see how much interest there is. I will message the contact info.
Keep your knees in the breeze!

Glad to help. I stopped by there this morning and he told me you are coming to look at the CB450!

Thanks for the reference. He has a 1972 CL450 Scrambler (all original, around 3500 miles I think) if anyone is looking for one. I think he is asking $1700. He was a very nice gentleman. I was glad to have met him, and happy to have a mechanic contact.

I ended up buying a stock restored 75 Honda CB400F. Trying to source the owner's and service manual for this particular year. Anyone have a digital file laying around?
