i was trying to. me problem is the back part of the seat. how it flairs up. im not sure on what to do about that. trying to turn it into a bump seat if at all possible.

Keeping it a two up makes it harder to do.... make yourself some cardboard cut outs so you can take a look at the side profile. If you want a traditional cafe look you may find yourself having to change out that rear section.

Where abouts in Indiana?
Since you are dead set on NO fiberglass, what if you bend out of sheet metal?
Here is what I did on my second seat build. You could ditch that factory tail piece, make this as long as you need for two-up riding, and still be shorter thant that stock tail...

No problem... FYI, the curve on the back was made by rolling it over a big metal coffee can. And there is 1" foam on the flat "seat" portion I didn't get a pic of... at least I haven't found it yet.

An aluminum sign, ;) I still have some scrap left over but no mic here at home. I'll try and remember to take a piece of it to work and get you the thickness.

I like this guy. I used a no parking sign. What did yours say?

Nothing wrong with cheap, thats how I roll too. Except my sign was pilfered from work... ::)
Measured at .065 so it is probably 1/16" sheet.
