Hey guys I am new to the forum, looking to build a small cafe. I have a co-worker that has a 125S with 6k miles, rebuilt top end, leaking a little oil on bottom end, great condition bike. needs tires, the usual but I don't want to overpay, i know what he wants... I just don't know if its worth that much...

thanks Skye :-\

i gave $400 for a 1975 CB125 S this winter.

clear title, ran pretty rough and leaks oil like a sieve.... no where near as nice as that picture!

well you kinda have to be the judge of how much work it needs. first off, the fact that its leaking oil immediately means new gaskets for the engine. Take a look at all the parts (right down to the frame) and try to figure out what needs to be replaced to get it 100% road reliable. the more you find wrong wiht the bike, the better bargaining leverage you have...

Honestly, if the engine leaks oil, thats kinda a headache, I wouldn't pay 1000 bucks for a bike with that small of a displacement.. thats like 7-10 bucks a CC!

remember, you don't have to buy the first bike you come along, and just cuz its a smaller bike, doesn't mean it will be a smaller scale project (not sure exactly if thats what you meant by "small cafe project).

If you aren't 100% sure about the purchase, I wouldn't take it

Well thats my two cents anyways...

If that was the bike for sale in the picture above, and you really like it, then it's worth the money. However there are deals out there for less money and 'more' bike.

i just feel like for $1K you should get a strong runner with a clean title. ESPECIALLY with such a small bike.

if you're willing to spend a Grand, there are a LOT of bikes in your price range.

scour CL and eBay and Walnecks...

bikes are worth whatever someone is willing to pay for them..

I'd say no way, I bought my 400f for $1100, and it was in as good shape as that... besides, a 125 isn't that much fun once you get out of the subdivision

Its true, A ride that small is actually frightening when you need to get some speed or you are going up a hill. Trust me, Even if you went for a cb 200 or cb 350/360 you will likely be happier and wont get bored of it as fast!

REMEMBER: There is always a better deal out there somewhere, its a matter of waiting for it to reveal itself. Dont buy the first bike you see.

Once again thats just my opinion, and heck sometimes i dont even follow my own advice! ;D
