hi gang,

I am currently using a bikemaster 12v12ah battery and it is huge, i saw this http://www.batterysharks.com/Universal-Power-UB12120-D5775-p/ub12120_b12-12.htm
SLA battery UB12120 which the specs state is a 12v12ah battery. I am going to use all the same electronis from the bike and the starter, will this work? Also the terminals are the spade F1/F2 type, will i have any issues with the terminals burning up since i am using the starter? Thanks

You won't be using electric starter with those terminals (at least, not more than once)
I 'think' they will carry around 35amps, but, you'll need at least 40~70 amps for initial turn of motor.
If it's the smaller terminal, (0.187 instead of 0.250) the max amp discharge will be lower

yeah, i didnt think i could. I am running LED tailights and an HID headlight with LED Turn signals in front and the starter, what would be the smallest/type of battery i can use? thanks for the fast response

What bike?
You can use a 9A/hr, possibly a 7A/hr.
Depends on starter draw and CCA of battery

it is a 1976 xs750 triple. the battery it currently calls for is the wp14l-2 which is a 12volt 12ah. also the battery have a sticker that states that charging should be 1.4ax5h-10h or quick 6.0a x1h. I will be running a 35watt hid headlight kit, and led taillights/brakelights, and led turn signals and using the starter. thanks for your help

WP14 will be 14 A/hr.
I wouldn't go too small on an XS 750.
When everything is working well they fire up easy, but, it's still 3 x 250cc cylinders.
Probably 9~10 A/hr is smallest.
GRT/sealed will have higher CCA and be slightly smaller than conventional battery

I wouldn't go too small on an XS 750.
When everything is working well they fire up easy 34 year old wiring, clean all connections and grounds well.

You remember eh ? ;)

GRT means gas recombination technology.
It's a sealed battery that runs at slightly higher pressure so gas produced when charging stays inside battery and recombines with fluid so level doesn't drop.
Any 'sealed' battery will work, the Gel types sort of do the same thing but evenually the 'gel' dries out (GRT does the same, just takesa little longer as they have a safety valve in case pressure gets too high, which is likely when using a smaller than recommended battery)
The internal resistance is factored into the charging system/regulator cut off.
Maybe the last time I posted about batteries it should have been 'stickied'?
