Need help with Solenoid wiring

DC74inc

Come on in and sit on it.
Im trying to not blow fuses and drain my batt, but I cant decipher from any diagram where the second lead goes on the starter solenoid, the other bolted lead goes to a connector to the harness but the other bolt seems homeless as of now. If it is a ground that might solve my battery (+) to starter problem where when connected it turns the motor over uncontrollably. i think im missing a ground here?

Im trying to find out where to bolt the second starter solenoid to.. Its 2 inches long give or take soo I could only really see it going to the positive terminal, but ****, when I actually bolt the starter cable to the positive terminal it arcs and heats up the cable. whats the deal with this lil solenoid lead?

on my starter Motor, it only has the lead going to the positive, i dont have a ground wire running to the frame or engine, thats probly why she just kicks over constantly when I hook er up.

On mine, the side closest to the battery is connected to the battery. The side further away from the battery is connected to the starter. And there is only one starter solenoid. What kind of bike is it?

its a cb 360. (1974) the books mostly say run the starter cable to the (+) terminal and a (=) ground, n then they dont have much help with the solenoid. Do you have a ground cable running from your starter motor??

no. The fact that the starter is bolted to your motor, which is bolted to your frame, and you neg terminal on your battery is bolted to the frame means it is grounded. I see you painted your frame. Did you make sure you have a good ground where the battery cable is grounded to the frame?

You only need to run 1 wire from the battery to the Starter solenoid, then to the starter. The starter switch also runs a wire to the solenoid to trigger it. There my be a ground wire connection on the solenoid too.

Remember: Your frame and your motor IS the "ground" part of the circuit.

..yeah the batt is grounded and the starter via the bolts to the engine block and starter threads to engine. maybe my solenoid is bad.. but, idk is that real common?

You have battery connected directly to starter motor.
How can a solenoid work when you have both leads to same terminal?
Solenoid is nothing more than a switch, it's just an electrically operated switch

Short wire from + on battery to one side on Relay (what it really is)
WIRE with plastic connector on SAME side as short wire.
LONG wire to starter on other side of relay.
Batt - to frame down by the engine on right side.

SO two wires on one side ONE on the other. key On push the button should spin over.
