Can anybody tell me whats the biggest i can hone the cylinders on a cb350? I took my engine appart to replace the rings, timing chain, and gaskets and found the cylinders to have some rust pitting. :-\

Id bore over just enough to get out the pitting, whether that be +.25mm, +.75mm etc.

That way there is always the option later to overbore again if the needs be.

That being said in pure size terms, I think i've seen someone go atleast 5mm over....not certain though.

[edit] That's with new oversize pistons...which I assume you are talking about? If your talking about just honing to remove pitting and keeping the same pistons, well, im not sure.

a light hone-job will be sufficient for small rust particles. If you decide to bore the cilinders out, the minimum is .25 because you will need new pistons and rings and they only are available in .25, .50, .75 and 1.
You can not bore and use old pistons/rings.

I did a light hone job already the pitting is still there cant really feel with my nail but can see it. well I just did a lil reading and if im correct as long as the bore isn't over 2.524(64.11) I can hone some more. piston is at 2.5192(63.98) so its good. ??? so if I hone to 2.523 and piston is 2.5192 what size rings do I get?

bike was sitting out in the Wisconsin weather for 4-5 years before I rescued it, yea rusted. valves also looked like crap. I cleaned the carbs and put new plugs and it fired right up. fired up like 5 time and then she died no compression. I found it with a 65 dream 305 which will be my next project after this one is done. Can any one tell me the correct way on figuring out what size rings to get once I hone the cylinder?

Go to the machine shop that you selected to bore those barrels and they will do a quick bore to see what they clean up at and then you buy the appropriate size of pistons and rings. They might be .5mm os or .75mm o/s

jup, let a shop do it. It will need to get bored before you can even measure wich pistons and rings you're going to need.
