Hey guys. First off I wanted to thank you all for all the great info I've gotten so far just lurking around on this site. Ive recently undertaken the task of building a cafe racer out of a '75 CL360 I found on the Craig. I'm in the middle of Painting/rebuilding the top end and I've run into some snags.
I'm well aware of the cam tensioner recall on these things. Not sure if mine was corrected seeing as Honda started addressing the issue somewhere in mid 75 (My bike is serial #2029023 with no ":" marks). Either way, Theres some chain/cam grinding evident on the cam races of the head. I'll throw up some pics and hopefully one of you experts out there can tell me if the head and slipper needs replacing. Thanks again!
There is several members on here that are very knowledgeable about this and that bike... Send trek97 a message. He can help you out and point you in the right direction, if any.. It may just be you have to sit and wait for another one to pop up for sale or them to finish the aftermarket ones for you.
That is the improved tensioner, FWIW. The "old" one, the opening in the loop at the 2 ends is toward the chain. if they slipped off the retainer, the open part of the loop would tangle the cam chain and seize the motor.
Makes me feel better to know I have a post recall model. I'm gonna go ahead and run with the head I've got. As for the slipper and tensioner, I'm gonna try to find replacements before I put her back together. if anybody knows where to find em besides ebay, let me know.
