Needed badly: spark advancer for 350 twin

It looks kind of like this:

But mine looks like it was in a nuclear blast. Ok, not that bad, but the plastic pads melted off, and the springs are sprung.

I might, maybe, cross my fingers be able to epoxy something like the original plastic pads on there, and get springs at the hardware store, but I would rather find one that just works.

Anyone know where I can find one? Bike is dead in the basement without it. Honda shops can't get it, my local salvage place doesn't have any.

I am unable to determine if the 360 unit will interchange, the honda shop didn't think it would, but you never know.

One consideration might be to take advantage of the situation and go to an electronic ignition.

i would think you could come across one on ebay. or if you see some 350 parts on ebay ask the seller if they still have that part and can pull it for you. i have had some luck with that.

I have been unable to find an electronic ignition for the twin. I see them for other bikes though.
Plus, I just bought and paid for the points before I knew that the advancer was trashed. :D

I might be able to fix it, but it would be best to replace.

Howdy, there is person on SOHC board by the nickname Hondaman he might have an electronic ignition kit for the 350twin. From what I read it not that expensive compared to dyna, somewhere around $70US. You have to register to the SOHC board then PM him.

Tough part to find, Honda no longer has it in stock. There are hi tech ignitions available but of course they cost money.

The most extensive digital ignition kit is from Bore-Tech. http://www.bore-tech.com/Vintage%20Motorcycle%20Ignitions.html

Don't bother asking Dynatek, they don't have kits for the twins.

is it really worth $300 for electronic ignition? better performance and never mess with it again right? some of my bikes didnt even cost that much to begin with.

There's a couple on ebay:

If you plan on doing any performance mods to your motor at all, or simply just dont want the hastle of P&C ignition, 300 bucks isnt really that bad honestly. The Dyna S system is about 120, plus if you want the best out of it, coils are another 80ish a piece. Plus wires and caps and that fun stuff, so in the end you've spent bout 300 with them as well. You'll get cleaner, more consistant, maintainence free spark (minus the plugs and wires of course :p ) Not to mention that any bore kits and you will almost HAVE to swap to get a hot enough spark.

Crazy. I got the new points, I think I repaired the advancer enough to operate for a while at least, but now I have lost the plate the points mount on, and the kit I got from the Honda shop doesn't include the wires, which were totally wrecked on mine when they melted.

I will look for the SOHC forum I think.

It appears that I would still need to retain most of the parts that I am missing in order to take advantage of HondaMan's kit, plus it is made for four cylinder bikes.
;)

Perhaps I will contact him anyway, and see if he could make something that would work on a twin anyway.
