I'd like to announce my official entry into the world of 2 strokes. I finally rolled home the free bike my neighbor offered up a couple of weeks ago. Near as I can tell it's a 1973 Suzuki GT750 or more affectionately known as the Water Buffalo. It's a little taken apart but pretty much complete from what I can see so far. Still tracking down the title but it was my neighbors buddy's bike who's already agreed to go to the DMV to get a new title if he can't find the original.
Here's a couple of quick pics I took after I rolled it home.
I know nothing about smokers so this should be an interesting learning experience. So far I'm leaning towards the name Buffalo Sally. What do you guys think?
This will be my "big" bike. This thing is a heavy SOB compared to my little KZ400. Amazing what a couple extra hundred lbs will do. I've come to the realization that I'd eventually want a bike for cruising with more than just me on it. The cafe is not going to be a long distance bike by any means. It's not meant to be comfortable for long rides it's to go fast and look cool. Now I just gotta figure out how to get Steph onto the back of a bike. I'm wanting to keep a 2 up seat but the stock is hideous so I'm thinking maybe a long brat style seat.
The pipes are off screen. You can see one of them on top of a trash can in the backround of the first pic. It's friggin crazy, the bike has a 3 into 4. The middle header splits into 2 smaller mufflers giving it a total of 4. Looks like I'll have lots to learn.
I was originally planning on keeping it mostly stock then I come across shit like this....
It's stuff like this that keeps me from ever finishing a bike. I just love the tips on the pipes. I'll have to try and get them put back on some night this week and take some pics.
Very cool man. I have a buddy who bought one new and still rides it. He knows all about these things. If ya have any questions just hollar and Ill run it by him!
You'd think that's a good thing. But if it's anything like the rear disk on my gs750, it's touchy as hell. That thing will lock up on you if you look at it funny.

I will definitely keep that in mind and may well take you up on it before I'm done. ;D I'm gonna need lots of practice before I even think of riding this beast so I have some time to get her fixed up. I've also promised myself that I'd finish the KZ400 cafe project first plus I need that thing done so I have a solid running bike for once.
They're a sought after bike in any condition and fetch good money here. In australia they're known as "Water Bottles". How about "Poly" as in poly put the kettle on? Great find by the way.
