New CB550 Cafe in Raleigh NC.

If You Can't Buy it, Build it!
This is my latest Cafe project, just completed. Every nut and bolt on this bike was made black to fit in with the color scheme(no silver). The CB550 was a total turn around from my CB450 project where I tried to use as much silver as possible.
I would like to start a Cafe club in Raleigh/Cary NC. We can meet a local venue on a weekly/monthly basis and can also get together at my work shop in Raleigh for some "wrenching". All interested can contact me through this thread.

Hey Johann,

I'm in Raleigh as well. Definitely have to get together for a bike night, wrench session, or a ride sometime.

Sweet looking bikes man!

Johann, Too bad you aren't close to Charlotte, we have a great group here called SoMoto...your bike would fit right in too. Also great looking bike, those mid 70's-early 80's hondas are great bikes when done up right.

I look forward to meeting you one of these days. I saw your silver honda at the euro rally at moore square, and I saw your frame at Toms before it was coated I am pretty sure. The bikes came out nice. Regards,

Joe

great job, and killer bars ;)

How did you treat your fasteners? I've been looking for a durable (ie not paint) solution for ages.

cheers

oh yeah, love this bike! Is that a continental tank? that whole thing really came together nicely. I really like the color scheme!

Ian,

I tried black oxide (gun blue), but it is not durable and rust resistant enough. I Zinc plated the bolts and nuts and then colored/stained them black with a zinc blackener. Zinc is bright silver and can be colored black, yellow and also a blue-ish tint. Yellow looks like cadnium plate, but not toxic. I also powder coated alot of the smaller parts black.

Where are you? I can help if you are in Raleigh.
