hey guys,
first post here. first post on any message bored any where. anyway, just bought two 1978 honda cb750's. one is a cb750K and one is a cb750F. the goal is to teach myself how to work on these things. my buddy matt is giving me a hand but im sure both of us will need a ton of help throughout this process. ive had the bikes for a couple of months now and have gotten one of them running pretty good. im sure it could use a bit of fine tuning but it feels good to ride for the time being

started the big tear down of the k model today and i plan on posting pics of that as we progress.

look forward to all the advice!

Welcome to DTT!

If you cant get a title for the other one (read your other post first), it might become a parts bike. They both look pretty good though!

Congrats on the purchase and welcome! I'm up in Greenville. Having two bikes is actually a good idea as you could potentially have one in riding condition while you work on the other.

Welcome, I'm just up the road in Charlotte. If you have to get a title (I think I read that somewhere) give me shout, I had a guy get one for me and it only took about 10 days and 50 bucks!

Its good to see someone else in this city that likes these bikes. I'm also learning on my 79 CB750K and have cafe plans in mind. Give me a shout if you guys ever need a hand.

I am in mooresville close to charlotte. teach me that trick! I only know of the bonded title route which costs at least twice as much. Very interested.

ill let you know for sure. you do the same. i think im wearing thin my welcome with matts wife lately staying out at the garage until 2 am so often.

what have you done to your 79 cb750 so far? i just rebuilt the carbs on matts 79. which might have been a giant waste of time. his engine is locked up.... i think we are gonna try to take it apart soon.

Hey you're lucky you've got a garage to work out of. My girlfriend's sun room has been my garage up until recently. Now I've moved onto renting a pos "garage" with a dirt floor and zero electricity. Can't wait to have a real shop.

That sucks the engine's locked up. Theres a few DOHC 750's around Columbia on Craigslist, you guys might be able to snag another parts bike for cheap. http://charlotte.craigslist.org/mcy/1895590447.html

On mine I've totally rebuilt my carbs probably 4 times now, separated them and everything, pain in the ass, replaced the ignition with GM HEI, done a ton of maintenance, and attempted to adjust my valves only to find the #4 intake valve stuck or "burnt" i think. I've got to get it over to the bike shop to do the leak down/compression test on it before I tear it down and have the head rebuilt. It's a learning process for me, we'll see how it goes.

Anyway, good luck on the engine. Have you guys already removed it?

you dont drive a blue bike with clubmans on it already do you? i saw someone zip past my yard the other day. didnt have time to see what the bike was but it looked like a harley with clubmans.

Na but I know who you're talking about. I've seen him cruisin through five points a bunch of times. I think it's a harley too, maybe a sportster with clubmans. Looks pretty badass.
