New From Colorado

New to the forum from Colorado. Just picked up a CB750 last night so I would have something to ride while I finish our Harley bobber project. I have always liked the cafe racer style, so I have plans in the works for this bike once the HD is done. In the meantime I'll keep looking here for ideas and asking questions. I'll see about posting a pic later today.

The bike is a 72' with 19K, mechanically it appears to be in good shape. Rode it home last night about 40 miles and it was surprisenly confortable. The four into one pipe is a bit sharp on the ears, might have to do something with that. Needs some cosmetic work and of course the standard cafe bits.

Later,
Lou

Lou,

Welcome! You'll find a lot of useful information here...there are several of us who have CB750's in the works.

Send pictures of your new ride!

Thanks guys. I was originally looking for a Brit bike but I saw this forum and some of the nice CB cafe bikes and decided to go that route. I figured it might be easier to find parts and perhaps they would be a bit less expensive.

From what I read the 750 motors are very durable. This bike only has 19K so I'm hoping I can count on it running for a long time. The bike has some surface rust spots on the frame and needs a good cleaning, but I think it will be a good starting point. Eventually I plan to strip it all down and go frame up cleaning, polishing and replacing any parts that need it.

Is there a specific forum location for Honda questions, I have several.

2slow are there any bike gatherings down in the Springs?

Thanks,
Lou

Lou,

To get you started, here are a few sites that I visit frequently:

www.cb750cafe.com - This is Steve "Carpy" Carpenter's site. Steve makes and sells parts, takes questions and is an advocate of the CB750.

www.sohc4.net - Honda SOHC Owners Club, lots of information in the forum from CB owners of all persuasions; restoration, cafe, chopper, etc.

www.benjiescaferacer.com - Benjie's Cafe RAcers, higher end parts; tanks, exhaust, etc. Inspiring designs.

www.cyclexchange.net - Cycle X, performance upgrades for Honda CB750 motors, cafe and chopper parts.

I'm sure that other members will have their favorites to add as well.

Not much happening here for vintage Japanese or cafe . Lots of Harley guys. There is a British club that meets every month and does some rides. There were some great bikes here a few weeks ago for the Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Triumph 750's still dominate the vintage class. There was a really cool XS650 in the sidecar class. I usually check the Southwest Scooter News for shows, poker runs etc...

Skyeye thanks for the links, there's a lot of info available which is really helpful. 2slow I think the vintage scene might be a little better here in Denver, but Harley's and stock bikes are the most popular.
