Hey guys, long time lurker turned member. I've got a love for bacon as my handle shows and my bike is a 1980 SR250. Looking to do a mix of bobber/cafe racer with it. I'm 6'3" and it's a small bike so I want forward controls but I love the cafe look. It'll be a fun project, I've owned the bike now 7 years but haven't had it run.

Had it to a point where it would run a few months after purchase but due to an oversight it caught fire. Only melted wiring harness thankfully. But I haven't touched it in a long time. Have since replaced harness and added a few touches but am afraid to start again. I'll post some pictures later. Long winded intro done, hoping to learn a lot from everyone here.

Welcome mate. There are quite a few people building SR250s on here, specifically Jadus offers some cool custom aftermarket parts and has done a lot of research. You'll get it going.

Finally got a chance to find the pics I had, first off is right after I got it home.

Next is right after fire, the extinguisher is still visible. That one scared the sh!t out of me, November in NY in a closed garage...not good or fun

Last 2 are after fire and new seat and wiring harness. I have still yet to have it running but I'm now over the fear of it catching fire while I'm near it so it's time to work.

Here's hoping that I can start getting over to my uncles house soon, I have the bike there for storage. He's got a fairly big garage and wrenches on bikes himself. Like I said before, this forum has already given me a lot of inspiration for my own bike and now I'm on the way to getting it going.
