Bonjour à tous,

My name is Thierry and I am french, I live in Paris. I’m 42 and I have a 4 years old daughter.
I’ve just finished my last work : a cb 500 four I’ve rebuilt in the genuine way. I also have a CB360 I’ve done as brand new as possible.
And I have four Solex, which is a strange French old mopped with the engine on the front wheel.

Recently, I just bought two CB 500 T to make one as a Café Racer. It will be my next couple of year job.

I’ve already sanded the frame, epoxy paint and I’ve started my request for parts. Tank is in the painter workshop and I’am waiting for my new seat.
Yesterday, I’ve open the engine to paint and polish it.

My target is approximatly this BMW :

I sometime follow DTT to find ideas or advices. But this cb500T as not been sold a lot in Europe and I may need your help.
I thank you in advance for your help.

Welcome to DTT, Thierry! You have some beautiful bikes. Can't wait to see what you do with your new 500s.

Hi Thierry welcome to DTT, the 500 four was my first big bike many years ago, the 500T was sold in numbers in the UK but they are now quite collectable. There are a few French registered on DTT, but I don't think they are very active.

Bienvenue!

Always nice to see more 360s around. :)

CB500T seem to be a bit of a rarer bike, it'll be good to see what you can do with it.

I have to ask why your user name is cheese? You must really like the stuff!

Salut Thiery!

A little bit cold. We had a few snow this moring but, I live right in Paris and it is really unusual.
Waiting for the week end...

It is cold here in Ohio USA too. I have not seen any snow flakes yet. It is supose to rain all weekend here. How do you like Paris? There is a great romance about it here in the states. Is it all hype?

Hi from the limousin, also cold with snow here in central France, the bike is in the garage for the winter, roads around here can be deadly this time of year as many are tree lined and the trees block the winter sun from the road surface, this time last year I wrote the car off on black ice, so definitely no biking until spring.

Nice CB's, and cool moped, looks perfect for around Paris. I lived in L'isle Adam for a little when I was a kid and spent a bit in Paris. It's beautiful, but would never want to be in a cage there, just two wheels. Traffic is a nightmare.

Hello all,

After a few months of quite and slow activity, I took this topic back from the cellar to show you where I am with my cafe racer.
Je remonte un peu le post avec la photo prise ce week end.

The engine works ! I still have to finish wire to connect.

I still do hesitate between several option : rear fender or not, stock seat or not...
I'll make picture of all options to ask you advice.

Those are some amazing looking old Honda's you have built!

Personally Id say go with a custom seat and no fender or a short fender on the latest project. It looks fantastic regardless though!

Hello all,

After winter and cold time in my workshop, I've worked a few on my CB 500 T café racer project :

Actually, the only differences with genuine bike are :
- short rear supsension
- cb 450 exaust
- clip-on
- Black peint and black seat instead of brown

I am not sure with the seat, I will do a sport one with a rear different form. And I may put a short rear fender

I still have to install brakes, front fender, controls and command has to be fixed.

thanks for your comments
