$150 to remove the valves?!? or remove the head and disassemble it? What then... you do the valve work and pay him another $150 to reassemble it?
Check out the PVC pipe / C-clamp valve spring compressor I made.
It is posted in the DIY tool thread that here on DTT somewhere... but I think you'll get the idea. ;)

Thanks to HD, I got my valves all apart! Its a good thing too, because my valves were fine. There was just so much corrosion and crap in there that was holding them open.
Put her all back together, and have 150 psi on all cylinders. Started up first try! It is leaking like a sieve, and the valves need to be adjusted. But other than that, it is running!

WOW!! problem after problem!! after all the work, the bike may not be able to be registered!!!! The notary expired, and the original owner is in prison for 20 years!!

BOGUS! When's the last time it was registered?
2010... the owner with the name on the title will be in prison the rest of his life lol!! I might have found a way though...I have to bond the damnd thing to the state of NC.

Hey at least you can bond it. Some states you'd be completely effed.
it is the biggest pain in the @$& though!! Cali is one of those states that i would be screwed in!
I know were a mint commando is there for really cheap. But it is useless for this very reason :'(

the bond alone cost 160 bucks!! Now the highway patrol has to inspect it :-[ I really doubt it will pass the way she sits now....anyone know the deal on exhaust legality's? I know alot of harley guys have straight pipes....

You will probably be in trouble no matter where you go with that exhaust. ;-)
Ya, it is a little rough lol. Spent the money for the exhaust, to get a bond, to get it inspected. which cant pass, because of the exhaust!! my life is a catch 22... dammit!!
