New guy from the Mitten

CharlieT

I remember the days before there was dirt.
Friend has been telling me for a long time about this forum and how great it was, so finally got around to signing on.

Live in rural north Kalamazoo County and have a shop in Galesburg, MI. I am a retired Physician Assistant. Practiced for 35yrs, the last 26yrs on the staff of our local VA hospital. Got my first bike in 1965, a Honda S65....and I still have it. Raced on/off for about 10yrs. Built my first custom when I was 16 y/o...a 125 Harley hummer frame that I put a 200cc Triumph Tiger Cub engine in. Been tinkering with them ever since. Currently own somewhere around 20 bikes, I think...???

Retired early last year and for my retirement plan, opened a little bike shop in Galesburg. Specializing in the vintage/classic bikes, mostly Asian, but an occasional Brit or Euro bike, even a few American bikes. We basically work on bikes non of the dealers around here will touch, in fact they refer folks to us. Do mostly repairs, some restorations, but what we really enjoy is building one-off customs. GP bike replica, cafe, retro supermotard, three-wheeler.....we're game for most anything.

Welcome! Always good to have more michigan folks.

Welcome aboard, sounds like you've got a good gig going! Perhaps I should consider an "early retirement" haha!

I don't know, man. I've never actually seen him do any work, but the bikes get moved around.

Now now now.....who welded your seat bracket onto that Virago of yours. One of the few things that haven't broken or fallen off that thing, I might add.
