Been Around the Block
Well new here from Memphis, Tn. Been riding for years. Sold my r6 last summer. Wanting to find a cb but there so overpriced around here. Anyways im now selling my 79 Bronco and replacing it with a vintage cb. Im about 5'11 140 lbs so looking for a 350 or 450. It will just be used as a pleasure vehicle for the weekends and bike nights. Have a 1500 dollar budget as of now until the bronco sells. Just found this one locally wondering what you guys think about it. Thanks http://memphis.craigslist.org/mcy/2951252130.html Also found this one bout 3 hours away. http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/2947634041.html

its not that bad, i would see how low he would go on the price, on the plus side it does come with a parts bike...

Unless he comes down somewhat significantly (to +-$1000), I'd pass. My dad lives in Houston, and he was just GIVEN a cb350 a few months ago. Its not nearly in the shape that ^^that one is in, but still. I personally think $1500 can get you a lot better than that, but that'd be a great bike to work on for the right price.

Thanks for the info. I called and offered him a $1000 cash. He said no way he is letting it go for less than $1500. I told him if he doesn't get any bites to give me a shout, he said he will just continue riding it in that case. Guess i will keep my eye out. One will pop up eventually

You did good bro. Just for your reference: I paid $500 for my cb750(certainly a bit of a steal), and it was in a lot better shape than that bike is, but not running. I had it running within 45 mins of bringing it home.

Look at the craigslists further out in the country. Around me there are 5-6 CLs within 100 miles. None of them have much volume but they all have MUCH cheaper prices for barn finds and project bikes than the big city CLs do.

Well looks like I ended up buying the bike. Finally sold my bronco so I went down and looked at it. It ran perfect which is mainly what I was looking for in my purchase. Bike looks decent nothing a little love won't fix. Tank has 2 dents in it and the 360 parts bike is complete except for tank and seat. Going to pick them up tommorrow.

I have never paid more than $1 a cc for a Honda and have purchased four CB400F's for less than $150 each. Be patient, have cash in hand and be ready to buy when the right deal shows up. Be proactive and post a free "Wanted to Buy" ad on Craigslist and see what comes your way. Good luck! A $300-500 parts bike will run and look great after you put $1000 + in to it (new tires, spokes, rims, chain, brake, cables, paint and seat cover etc)

Post pics when you get them...and always offer more when you arrive - Cold Cash in hand always looks better than just saying No like he did over the phone.

Good Luck!

Yeah I know everybody says they only pay a dollar a cc but apparently around here stuff ain't like that. I've had 1500 set aside for past 6 months lookin for a 350 or 360 but have only seen 3 within 250 miles of here. Last one I saw for 600 bucks was found in a barn and sold in a day. So I heeded the other guys advice and got what I could find within my budget and runs the best. And this bike has receipts for motor work done last year.

Blame "Cafe Racer television"... Suddenly everyone wants to build a cafe racers out of old Hondas.

Well I can't say that's why I want to do it. Ive always likes them just had to get my finances in order first. Now that I have no more credit debt. I'm taking the opportunity. Plus I like to relive my dads old memories. A cb350 was his first bike. Plus I'm also building a 73 wreidt spoiler jet boat with 455 olds. It was his original boat that he bought new and I grew up skiing behind. He sold it years ago then I found it again and bought it back. Sorry for the rant

The high demand for old Hondas to be made into cafe racers has driven the prices up. Do what you like to your bike, restore, chop, bob, cafe or? It is your bike.

Yeah sorry I completely forgot to post pics. Had to fix the leaking carburetor issue. Then it cut to only one cylinder. As of right now I'll be installing new pamco ignition, coils, wires, caps. Tommorrow.

Already put a new seat on it. Shortened front and rear fender. Got a new taillight, all new cables. Will put a new pic up when I get it running. The parts bike is literally a cb360 in parts. Dont have any pics of it
