New Guy questions..

So I was browsing my local Craigslist for bikes and I came across a '76 Honda CJ 360, ad says the engine is good but the bike isn't running because of minor electrical work needed, he's asking $500 OBO. I've never heard of this bike before, anyone have any experience with 'em? Thanks!

Well someone correct me if I am wrong, but it is basically a CB360 with a 2-1 pipe, and a nice little rear racer inspired rear end.

I also think the CJ had a 5 speed, where as the CB's and CL's had a 6 speed, But PJ would really be the guy to know.

My CJ was kickstart only, didn't even have castings for the magic button works.
If you go for it, offer him $200 for one that you can't verify function.....and toss that evil highside inducing OE pipe into the garbage. The collector is huge and WILL ground out in a tight corner. It will them attempt to pitch you over the top....rudely. How do I know....my first and only highside was on mine. I do miss that little bike though.

Maybe if I could get him down to around $200-$250? he says there's no title though..

Non running and no title? I wouldn't go any higher than $200, but the bike would have to look really good.
Titles can be issued, but you'll have to jump through some hoops and spend $100-150 (here in Louisiana).
Any bike can be made to run again... depending on how much you're will to spend on it.

Lowball the fuck outta him. If he refuses, walk away.

Yeah if there's no title and it's not running I'd not go any higher than $100 frankly. You will be spending money on the title.
If you can convince the guy to provide a title then $200 is ok I think so long as it's not a rusted out hulk....

I think most of us have been through a title fiasco or two in our day, and the easiest way to put it is, RUN.

Unless it has decent parts, then offer $100.
