I'm new here but have spent a good deal of time over on the SOHC forums (same username on that site). My current build is an '81 DOHC Honda 750 Custom that i'm working on converting into a cafe'-ish bike (yeah i know, no one does that ). i'm hoping to have it on the road with the major work done by late next summer.
i spent last fall/winter restoring my stock (except for pipes) '75 550K, and i'm looking forward to a build which allows me to be as creative as i want to get.
I'm also looking forward to the help you all can give me - i've crept around the forums a few times and have seen some really amazing builds and ideas being put into action from members here. and of course, i'm looking forward to contributing when and where i can!
Hey Dean - I've been at SOHC4 myself for over 7 years now, and was on the Greenspan or whatever the board was called before that. I'm not ashamed to say when I fired up DTT nearly 6 years ago, the demeanor and attitude displayed by the SOHC4 members was one of the things I wanted to enshrine here. I'm confident you'll find as many helpful constructive folks here.
Busy next weekend? Drive to Alabama Quite a few of us heading down from up in this neck of the woods (I'm in Toronto) for the Barber Vintage Festival.
Hey Dean!
First off, Welcome to DTT. There are a lot of great members here with a combined knowledge base like no where else on the interwebz. I think you will like it here.
Next is, I am knee deep in my 4th bike build here that just so happens to also be a '81 CB750C (Rock-It link in my sig) that is getting a Cafe' treatment... or at least as much as this bike lends itself to on my meager bike funds. Feel free to come check it out, give suggestions or ask questions, I got the gift of gab. When you start a build thread on yours post a link to it here, and we'll be checkin it out.
Do some searching for our DOHC 750 projects, they seem to be growing in numbers lately and parts for these are pretty cheap compared to other bikes.
thanks for the warm welcome, guys just from reading the threads that i have looked at, i can tell everyone's pretty nice and willing to help.
and Hoosier, i've actually already checked out your rock-it build -- it's one of the threads i was creeping in before i joined up and im really impressed with A. your luck at finding that basket case, and B. the great work you've done on it. I'm sure i'll have some questions for you before too long!
Welcome Mono. I am slowly working on a 1979 CB750K and also watch HD's posts religiously. My build is in my sig as well, though I am at a bit of a standstill until the funds replete. Looking forward to seeing your build!
