New guy!!

Mr. Sinister

Been Around the Block
Hi folks, my name is Bill and I've got a cafe-ish, street fighter-esque 81 Suzuki GS450, that I built with a friend of mine. It's a pretty mild build, and mostly stock parts were used. It's my first build, so maybe once my nuts droop, I'll get a little more crazy with it. For now, I'm just enjoying riding it, and continuing to work on it. I still want to change out the front springs and rear shocks (thinking Sonic), put some better mufflers on it, wrap the exhaust, paint the wheels and legs, maybe change the tank and tail section, sprockets, pods, blah, blah, blah......
So drink up lads, the next round is on me!!

Hey Rich, good to see a familiar face here!!
The GS board is a great resource, but I feel like I can't let my inner hooligan out there, lol. ;D

Welcome Sinister.

Working a 450 myself as we speak. Welcome to the group!

I agree the GSResources is a wealth of knowledge but most are a refined purist bunch. DTT is a much friendlier, "hooligan" site..LOL

Thanks!!
Nice. The GS is such a great platform, isn't it?
I agree. I want to put louder mufflers on my bike, because I feel this style of bike should have loud mufflers. What I don't want is to be brow-beaten for wanting loud pipes. My hot rod is loud, I want my bike loud too. I like loud, dammit!! ;D

Loud can be good or bad. All depends on the tone. I have thought about going to some Hardly take offs or a shorter more through flow set myself.

It is strange to ride this after a big CC bike that was loud. Sometimes sounds like I pissed off a bee hive unless I am at high RPM.

I have heard clips of stock harldly exhaust on our bikes. I wasn't a fan. All farty and blappy sounding.

I haven't heard any clips. Youtube? I would only do it if I could get them for free (which is generally the case). I won't waste my time if they sound like crap.

I'll just be thrilled when I get my 18" rear wheel in and swapped over. ;D

Everything else it this point is slow go icing toward the finished picture in my head..LOL

Wheres the sound clip Justin? Are you running a 2-1? or a set? Sometimes that can make all the difference on tone and compression. I ain't giving up on the idea of cheap yet..LOL

It was on Youtube after some digging. I believe it was a 2 into 1 setup, now that I think about it.

No rush, but I would love to hear it. I think the 2-1 setups seem to have a better sound overall, but I am far from that stage at this point.
