Hey everyone, I have been lurking for a long time, but finally figured I'd go ahead and do this..

I just moved to Austin, Texas from Mesa, Arizona about two weeks ago and have been inspired by this city and all of you to finally get working on my bike. I received a 1973 Honda SL350 from a friend for free last year, but haven't really had the space to do anything to it until now. It's been sitting for a looooonnng time. I have worked on aircraft composites for some time and am really excited to do some composite work and make this thing cafe style. This is my first cafe but I have built a couple of bike frames and done a lot of work on motorcycles for others in the past, and am really looking forward to starting from scratch with this one. Here is a picture of when I picked it up from my buddies back yard...

I didn't have room for it in the truck when I was moving out here, but my previous employer is going to an expo in Dallas with an aircraft that we built and I talked them into throwing it on the truck and bringing it out here. I've got to go pick it up in Dallas on the 8th and then the work starts!

Hello and welcome to Austin! I look forward to seeing what comes out of that bike, you've got your work cut out for you!

Welcome to Austin and dtt. I'm fairly new to both as well. Moved out here about four years ago (from flagstaff)and just intro'd myself on this forum just a couple months ago.

It's good to finally be here, thanks for the welcomes! I am going to document everything and post it so I can show the progress, so keep an eye out. My bike is still in Mesa, but I've got a friend trucking it to Dallas on the 7th and I'm meeting him there to pick it up and bring it back here. I'm excited to start tearing into my first motorcycle engine.

Oh, how I will miss the lunch time drives down University and Mill Ave during the school year, but it seems that UT has as much, if not more scenery to offer. And I'll tell ya from experience, Mill Avenue has nothing on downtown Austin.. I'm still exploring and finding new places, but so far I haven't come across any place I didn't like.

I hope to see all of you around someday. Thanks again!
