Hello gents and ladies!
Finally decided to take the plung after years of looking at bikes. Initially interested in naked street-bikes, then I discovered the modern Triumph and fell in love with the UJM look. Decided I wanted a bike that looked the way a bike is supposed to look.
After deciding that a new bike was out of my price range for a first foray, I started poking around Craigslist. Took my MSF saftey course. Bought the gear. Ultimately couldn't find anything in the area that fit my ideal of what I wanted, and despaired, finally giving up on owning a bike this season.
While at work, on a whim, I checked the 'list one last time, and the first new entry was a 1973 CB350 on SI. It had just been posted, and the price was right (absurdly high by national standards, but about 15-20% below market value in the NYC area). Took a half day off, looked at the bike, and handed over my cash. Titled, registered, ridden. I'm very excited.
Turns out it's a '72 judging from the frame and engine numbers. Bone stock, and super clean, it just has a few issues I'm going to sort out shortly, a popping at idle and off-throttle from the right cylinder, and a missing front brake light switch. Other than that, she pulls strong, starts with one kick, and is getting tons of compliments. Looking forward to a weekend that's not rainy, so I can take her out for a propper run-in.
Anyone else in the NYC area?
