Hey All! New member here...

So I have been a lurker on here since feb, and after searching all of this yr for a perfect bike to rebuild I came across a 74cb360 for 500 bucks. Guy said carbs needed to be cleaned that was it. Well after 10 min of trying got her running, she backed fired etc, but at least she ran. Compression was 120 both sides, and after closer look, looks like someone has been in the engine before,so hopefully I dont have to do anything on that end. The bike looked pretty sweet to start with but not my cup of tea.

Anyways here area few pics to start with and please bear with me as I will prob be asking a lot of questions along the way!

Gord

And no thise bolts wont stay in rear fender..lol

Not much to report, got motor out, repainted and did some polishing... As you can see what the metal looked like before and after polish. I clear coated the engine after i was done but looks a little too shiny for me.. oh well....

Welcome.
Quite a few Canadians on here.

Now you have all winter to work on your bike. ;D

Looking forward to next spring already.
Nice build

Thanks Frogman... Yes Pipe Welder Our brutal winters allow us many months of tinkering..lol Where in the Great white North are you?

Well got a couple things done again tonight.. Finished detabing the frame, filled some holes in my fender with aluminum rod, and mocked up a seat. The seat seamed high at first go around, really liked the shape, but seemed awful high, so I shaved it down. Looks good in person but when I look at pics it seems really flat.. Will wait a couple days and trim it and see how it looks, if don't like guess what I'll be doin again this weekend...

Does this look Normal? Or are they leaking?? When I got the bike the PO said it ran rough at high speeds and bogged down, then he would have a hard time starting it warm. I got it running in a night, before I cleaned carbs etc, but it backfired at idle, so I just chaulked it up as the carbs, or am I now looking for new coils?

Also my Shiny engine...

welcome,
check to be sure your advancer is nice, free and lubricated and working properly, adjust timing chain while crank shaft is pinned from turning w a wrench. could also be worn cam chain tensioner guides. Then reset timing. If it wont keep "timing" after being set properly it may have worn guides.
