Greetings from sunny California :)

Just wanted to drop a quick hello here. Found the forums through a site called BikeEXIF and I'm hoping to start on my first project bike if everything goes well. I don't have a lot of background working on bikes (or cars for that matter) but I love working on my motorcycle ('12 R6) and figure a project bike may be a good way to learn a few things.

I found an '82 virago near me for ~$100obo so I may pick that up this weekend. It's missing a few things according to the current owner -- "its missing carb. starter. seat pan and headlight."

I'm not looking to turn this thing around immediately, so saving up the $$ shouldn't be too rough on the budget :)

I've been reading a bit on here and can tell there's a wealth of information here on the forums. Hope to learn more as I lurk around!

Good to see another "SoCal" rider (as if there was a shortage). Jealous of your R6, I bet that's much less of a headache than the older bikes.

Hah, you should get one! It's a ton of fun but I don't have much to work on aside from changing oil/oil and air filters. I feel like it'd be a great learning opportunity fixing one of these up.

If I can get my hands on one we should go for a ride!

Welcome to DTT! Gotta love all the so cal peeps. You're actually pretty close to me man. I take the same exit off of the 91. Hate that fake traffic camera that flashes at you if you even go a hair over 35mph.
