Hi, my name is Marc and I've got a new project. A new, to me, 1980 Honda cb900c. I picked her up for $600, she needs a bunch of work, as far as I can tell, fork seals, carbs rebuilt, rear shocks rebuilt, rear brake caliper rebuilt, valve cover gasket...I'm sure there's more. My first question is about carbs. In doing a little research, it seems the stock CV carbs don't perform well with pods, a look I'm after, as i want to get rid of as much unnecessary stuff as possible, and I like the look of pods and no airbox. Suggested carbs are smoothbore, or CR. where can I get a set for my bike? Will carbs for a CB750 work on my 900? Any other options available?

Secondly, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna ditch the rear airshocks and the related components, and get some aftermarket ones, hopefully stiff and light and inexpensive. Again, any recommendations? I understand the cb900c isnt gonna be a light and nimble bike, really. I doubt I'll have her on the track, ever. But I want to shave as much weight as possible, enhance the lines and style I love on these hondas, and have her reliable and enjoyable. As far as wrenching goes, I've done basic maintenance, and taken on some projects on my KLR, but I'm looking forward to really getting my hands dirty with the honda. This site has been very inspirational and I hope it will be very resourceful as well.

I'll upload some pics as soon as I can, and I hope to here from you guys soon.

Marc
