New Rotors with 6 hole pattern?

"Long after I rest, my steel will live on"
Hey guys... I'm putting a 450 front end on my cb350. Decided im going to run calipers off a new bike (probably some tokicos off of a cbr600) by making a custom alloy bracket for the caliper.

Since im upgrading the caliper, i might as well upgrade the disk side of things.

Anyone know if there are any new rotors with the 6 hole pattern found on the 450 wheels and the early cb750 wheels? Maybe somebody has a newer sportbike that can count the holes and measure the distance?

cheers everyone

I could be wrong.....but I believe you can't use the newer style calipers with wires wheels if that's what your planning on doing because the caliper hits the spokes, just a heads up.

I picked up a set of 6 pot Tokicos for my KZ and they hit the spokes, no way to space out the disk further as there isnt enough room to the fork tube to do so. Custom tripples and wheel spacers would be required to widen the forks as well as hats to space the disks out from the wheel.....not real cost effective. Could swap a complete modern fork set for about the same money.

shit, nobody ever told me that...

well then... whats the best classic caliper i can get that will work? or should i just find an old 450/750 caliper and keep it all stock?

Twin piston calipers off a mid 80's Honda...almost any Honda, Magna, Nighthawk, Hawk650 etc. Should clear without issues.

i found a place in the uk that makes some damn sick 4 pot and 6 pot calipers with shallow backs....
Pretech is the company name... heres a build with the caliper on a 750...

a bit on the pricy side and in the uk, but damn, i think i might just splurge on it.

In other news, i just dropped 25 bucks plus shipping on two cb750 calipers in an unknown condition. they look salvageable... if they work ok ill use them... only problem is one of the calipers is missing a mount.... i might as well make a nice alloy one for the stiffness anywayss.

in the end i get the feeling i might just resell them and splurge on those pretechs.

I usually have to modify other discs to fit the CB wheel. Using a GL 1000 front end would be a better choice as they are wider and allow more options for disc and calipers. Using a mag wheel also gives more room for multi piston calipers. The GL style of caliper mounting (tabs behind the fork leg) makes the conversion easier also.

Cb750 and cb450 calipers are the same.....I think you'll be way better off with a gl1000 front end if you really think you want braking power, to me though a single front disc on a bike as small as a cb350 would be plenty braking power but I can understand wanting twin discs up front for asthetics. Just my $.02

i think im going to go with the stock caliper and an ebc rotor. ill be flipping the forks and running the right fork on the left side, so that i can run the caliper behind the fork. Ill make a custom mount out of some aluminum stock for added stiffness, and when i get myself a mill ill be able to make a super pretty/accurate one.

also ill be getting some new fork legs from cycle xchange... so far im liking the way my front end is going.

i considered dual disks, but thought it would be overkill for this tiny bike. i think they look GREAT on the 750s... just super hardcore, but on the 350 it looks a bit cluttered.

Get late model Katana calipers, sliding pin type,(1998~2007) shallow back.
you could also use Honda or Kawasaki ones.
Lot of sportbikes up to 2002 used 6 bolt rotors, Yamaha still do.
bolt spacing wont fit Honda though.
you also get more clearance with larger diameter rotors

cheers pj... thats the kind of info i was looking for.
