Newb here getting into the Cafe world. I picked up a Kawasaki LTD440 last fall with intentions of a cafe build. the more i got into it i realized that that 440 was not the bike i wanted to build. I gave it to a friend now he plans on finishing the build. Well he will pay for it i will do all the work for him. im looking at getting a Honda Ascot ft500 maybe in the spring. Any opinions on the Ascot's? Hope to pick something up and share my build with you guys and maybe get some info along the way if needed!

Thanks,
Darin

some before photos of the LTD 440. I will post more as the progresses are made.

I am having problems getting spark to it. I bought some new points and condenser to start there. Need to get this thing done so i can move on to my project and get it done by spring. If anyone has any thoughts what might be causing the spark issues other than the points please share.

Thanks
Darin

looks like a good bike to do a project only issue is battery location from what ive seen it might be a little hard to do other then that yeah

Welcome to DTT. LTD 440 was the first brand new bike I owed 80 or 81 model, can't remember. Looking forward to your build on whatever project you end up with.

For now im sticking with the ltd build... Couldn't find as Ascot that i want yet. So for a long over due update. The 440 is running but not 100%. I think the timing might be slightly off but im not to familiar with this set up so ill be asking around for someone to help with that. ive got the bike lowered to the height i would like along with the tail cut and bars removed. The biggest question i have is how can i cut the from fork tubes down on this thing? it again a setup i am unfamiliar with. i added some photos of the stance im looking to achieve as a mock up and how much i would like to remove from the forks.

Before and after on an FT500 I did last year. Lots of info on them on Yahoo groups Ascot.

DDT? As in "Do Da Ton"? I can dig it ;) Welcome to the party. Oh, an FT? My buddy had one of those. That bike is a riot!
