New to DTT, 1975 Honda Cb360 w/pictures

Ive been wanting to build a cafe racer for the last 10 years but with obligations outside of my control it was never possible. I have been looking for a project bike for the last few months, since i finally had some capital together to make the purchase. I stumbled upon a diamond in the rough. I found a 1976 Cb360 with 17,699 clicks, that has been lighty modified into a cafe racer but has sat for the last 4 years. The old owner parked it in favor of a new ducati monster. It needs some going over but is mostly complete. I performed a cold compression test and both cylinders were over 150 psi and equal. It has a modified army ammo box for the battery box, and the start button was relocated there, i thought this was pretty cool.

For the most part its complete, checked the plugs and one was nice and brown and the other one was black, its missing the cdi cover and screws , which i need to source and looks like it could use some new points, and overall tuneup. Tank rust is minimal. Front caliper seized. Tires are recent.

She needs to be loved again! :)

Here she is:

Re: Niagara falls, Ontario, Canada - 1976 Cb360

I'd suggest getting that battery out of that clean space right there, even moving it horizontally under the seat to open it up. It's begging for it, ha!

The army box is pretty cool. I wish he woulda done something different w the battery cables/wiring though. Look into hiding them better, and make it easy to remove, so pulling the carbs will be less of a chore. Then youll have something really neat.
It looks like a solid bike to start with.

Oh yeah, didn't even notice it was an ammo box, that's pretty cool, but I agree about the cables for sure. I still like the void area though if you don't have covers... IMO

Took a close look at her tonight, i agree, ammo box needs to be deleted, and battery moved. Some paint and cleaning up and she will be on the road in spring.

MM - Nice bones, and it looks like a nice shop to work in. Keep updates coming.

Another barely running 360s coming back from the dead. ;D

Guy did a bunch of work, that front end is different, at least the fork ears are, quite the exhaust as well.

Now, 150 psi both sides is borderline rebuild time. Needs to be 170 or better to run at full power, may need some internal work, possibly rings and a valve job. Trust me, the difference is amazing, mine had 120 more or less both sides and went to 180 with a rebuild, pulls like a train now were as before it just kinda went.

Good luck!

Good news.. did a compression test with my new guage with a real oring on it and it came back way better, 173/175.. this was using the kickstart .. not sure if that makes a difference.. I was so happy to see this! And just wiping the bike down, its actually shiny underneath the barn/shed grime. I then soaked it with some good wd40 to loosen up the grime..

Ive got to get a seat pad of some sort, any suggestions?

Please dont mind the mess, had to shuffle some crap around, an unexpected purchase, haha.

HA Amateurs! Dont even think of bringing the "mess" word into the game, til the work area looks a little bit more like this...
