I picked up a Yamaha 400 special from a friend of mine and we are turning it into a sweet ass cafe racer. I do not know much about cafe bikes but i am learning as much as i can. I noticed a few builds on here that gave me some good tips. I hope I can find more information and more tips!
I have been wrecking my brain with that question but I am gonna go with the standard flat black. Making a custom exhaust this week and hopefully get some more pics of the bike then.
I am not sure what type of tire that is. Waiting to get some maxxis tires. I am also going to paint the bike satin black which is pretty rad as well. Everything is apart and its going to paint this week. I will keep you guys posted.

I think you're XS400 number 7 on this forum! ;D Could be more, but we have a ways to go to catch up to the CB350's. Seems every other newbie has one. I was quite surprised how well these little 400's lend themselves to being turned into cafe bikes. Definitely not for two up riding, but will be lots of fun for one. Not many aftermarket cafe parts available, but the stuff you need is easy to make. Check out some of the other build threads. I'll be working on making an electronic ignition for mine sometime. Let me know if you'd be interested in ditching the points...... unless you have a TCI model.
Awesome man. I was looking at your build before and its way bitchin! It does have an electric starter and it still works. I am not 100% sure. I will get more info up and maybe start a build thread.
