Hey all,
Just thought i'd introduce myself. I just bought a nearly perfect 1980 CX500.
Looking forward to the transformation process to a cafe racer!

I was originally thinking of changing the wheels to Comstars, but after seeing how perfect these were, it's a hard choice!

those are comstar wheels?

or were you talking about the 78 reverse ones?

sorry i meant reverse to the ones on your bike

the later wheels 79 and up are called reverse comstars

haha. Relax peeps. Original parts will be saved for the future if I choose to revert back to stock.
I sought after this bike for a LONG time. I plan on keeping it for a long time.

Everything is in perfect condition except the tank has two small dings and a few small scratches.

:) Cheers

Sell the OEM parts to the restorer's and that will fund your build! Then whack and chop the crap out of that puppy and make it your own! Nice looking platform to start!

yep, he has a build thread here and has the murray's (CXMan) carb upgrades. I love this bike, except the sloped tank, bu that is a tnak design flaw, not Steve's fault.

Thanks guys. I'm super excited and happy about the purchase.

I'm super anal about having a clean bike, so I'm overjoyed to have found this one in such good condition.

If I do sell off the original parts, where would be the best place? Craigslist/kijiji aside?

skyler i offered to buy them when you put that up on the cx forum

i would still like to save them for a future restore as long as the tank is good inside

i also have other tanks if you want the same style tank and side covers or rear fenders

i can replace it all in the swap so the nice stuff is preserved

cxman looks like he wants them, or I'm sure there are cx forums you could peddle them at too. I unloaded a ton of stuff off my GS at a GS forum. Just dont tell the purists your chopping anything up, some get cranky.
