New to site - Wicked site - Toronto - Need insurance

Hello everyone. I just stumbled onto this site last night.... and wow. There is some cool SH_T here. I am in the Toronto area, and recently sold my 1998 GSXR to pick up an 82 CB750 (some friends are shaking thier heads, but they don't understand). Needless to say, what is going with insurance for older bikes.
- One company says I need Vintage and stops at 1984.
- Another says $1500 an year, $500 more than my crotch rocket
- and another for around $900.

I just want liability, since the bike cost $500 ( but great shape).

Any help or feedback wouldbe great.

Thanks

Rothlor.

I am through statefarm with my CBR, but I've still got to get a quote for my CB750. As far as I know, they only rate based on cc's.

I was also with state farm for my GSXR. Great rates because they only look at CC, not type of bike. Wosrt case I will go back to them. You would think with an older bike it would be cheaper. I got a quote from Riderplus for an 84 CB750 ( they don't go older than 84, and said I should get Vintage) and it was $550 a year v.s $900 at statefarm.

The search continues.

$530 sounds about right if you're not a new rider. I pay $547 for my BMW 750, liability only and have my full M.

Welcome and congrats on the 750.

I'm with Primum at the moment.
CC size will determine your rates.

As far as Vintage Ins. I'd like to check that out.
May have to get an appraisal too. I can see if your insuring it full coverage, but if your only getting liability, WTF!

Vintage insurance sounds like an interesting idea. I'm paying $800 a year right now for my CBR929, but I think it will be doing track duty this year, and I want to have the CB as my street bike.

Who's the best for this "vintage insurance"?

The vintage insurance, offered up by the company in Hamilton (can't remember their name) is only good for bikes with a) appraisal and b) for riding to club meetings, events etc. Not for riding around town, riding to work etc.

Jeez! I just called them, and they quoted me $1058.00 through Jevco... Damn.

Statefarm quoted me $731.00 Only $70 bucks less a year than my CBR929... To think, a 30 year old bike, with maybe 50hp, compared to an 8 year old bike with 130hp...

DAMN SON!
I'm betting I won't find anyone lower than that.

For the origional poster, GOOD LUCK BROTHER!

The quote on your vintage bike isn't high, your CBR929 insurance is ridiculously low.

$1050 for a CB750 is high. What license are you running with? I have my full M (same insurance value as an M2) and am paying $550 for my BMW 750. I did however just get a bill for another $75, as they found out I have 3 minor tickets on the books right now, so got hit with a 15% increase.

Still far less than the $1050 you've been quoted. Odd.

Full M, been riding for 8 years, no record. I'm 27, and Jevco changes their rates again at 29 (or so they said...)

My buddy has a 82 yammy that he pays like 100 a year on lol i paide like 1300 for my r6 he used to bust me all the time ha!

jeez you guys in Canada have it rough I only pay $115 a year for liability full coverage is $142.00 a year.

I am currently with Primmum and just insured my 81 cb650. Price was 492.00 for PL/PD and my xs400 was 327.00 for the same coverage. Hopefully i can continue to insure older bikes, otherwise putting these babies on the road could be dicey.
