Just getting into riding (3 weeks safely under my belt 8)). Started ogling cafe racers last year of college (22...now 27), and I finally decided to make this happen. Although I don't have a cafe or a build going at the moment (started on a rebel because it was cheap and available), I'll be making the jump soon, hopefully. Found this forum and thought I'd go ahead and dive in ;). Look forward to perusing the threads and learning a lil' something here and there.

Hey man. Good to know another Bama biker! I'm from Mobile/B'ham, but I'm in West Virginia working til the first of the year. Nice to meet you!

Awesome! I was hoping I'd find another Huntsvillian or two on here.

Right back at ya. You riding any while you're out there?

Well my daily driver is a 2012 Kawasaki Concours.
My custom CB750 Cafe Racer is at the engine builder getting the engine installed and finished up.
Everyone is getting ready for the Barbers Vintage Festival in October.
I am really trying to get mine done for the bike show at the ACE Corner.

The Concours are nice looking bikes...would love to get my hands on a cb750. Came close on a good condition cb450 on ebay...but didn't really go aggressive enough at it. Just couldn't get past the idea of not riding it first and the possibility of not being able to ride it day 1, so that's how I ended up with the Rebel. Still keeping an eye out for any good deals on a cb450/500/750, but I haven't ruled out the possibility of buying a fairly new Triumph as my next step up, and getting started on a build sometime after that. I'm not in a huge rush though...still learning the nuances of riding (just did my first commute to work today...Hampton Cove to Research Park). I'm taking the MSF course next weekend, because well, it doesn't seem like a bad idea ;).

I think I may go to Vintage Fest' but I'm still not sure if I'll take my bike or not. Prolly not if I only still have the rebel, but I definitely want to go just to see all the bikes and whatnot. Noticed the ACE Corner tix...definitely worth the extra price?

Here's the official Barber thread:

http://www.dotheton.com/forum/index.php?topic=47787.0

Its pages long... you'll find lots of info about Barber, including various members' opinions on the Ace Corner upgrade, what to expect both inside Ace Corner and outside, etc.
One thing I'll say... Barber is a must-see. Its incredible.

Welcome from another North Alabamian. I'm in Hartselle just south of Decatur. I didn't realize they were this many North Alabama members.

Cool. We'll need to get some of the Birmingham/Huntsville/anywhere else crew together for some rides, hangouts, and whatnot. I'd like to meet some of the local cafe riders. About to leave the office early and take a nice little jaunt up AL-65 through Paint Rock valley up to Huntland, TN and back ;). Hit me up if anyone wants to hang/ride sometime.

That's a great road to ride. Wish I had a little more time before work to head up that way too!!

I have my stock gauges from my 1981 CB750K.
I have gone all digital so probably will not use them.
Actually I have boxes of parts from this bike.

I just noticed something that is really funny.
If I remember correctly the stock gauges I have are right around 13,XXX miles. ;D

By the way I do have tons of parts from all kinds of builds that I've done him and I'm a fabricator so if y'all need anything just throw it out there and if I've got to let you know!

Joepagejr,is it this set?
