after scouring the interwebs some more i found that stem thing is probably a Jet Holder, correct?

Correct :) the jet is the small thing on the left in tour picture. There should be a number stamped on the top to tell you the size.

Get yer micrometer fired up and find our dimensions and that should help you id it on the websites in addition to its looks :)

I don't know where else I read it, but you can take your jets to a local shop. Then they can match them in person.

Use some carb cleaner and a small soft bristled brush to clean the surface off of the jet. Then you'll see the numbers.

I bought a whole main jet set and half had the number on the top and half had the number on the side (just incase you're not seeing it)

I got a replacement jet for one of my Keihin carbs from the local Honda dealer. Believe it or not they are still available OEM.
Sure looks like the internals for one of my four. If you would have you bike in you your sig I could help
There are parts vendors out there with the factory microfiche and part numbers that you can use to your benefit. ;)
See the numbers on the flanges of the two carb bodies laying sideways below? That will help you out as well.

870, not so fast. On the jet, as someone already mentioned, there should be a K and a number like 105 or 120 or whatever. That is the jet size you are looking for. In this case it is the diameter of the orifice in the center of the jet. Bigger jets have larger numbers as you might expect. They are the same dimensions apart from that drilling down the center of the jet.

not sure what you mean, I know what my jets are right now (75/105) I need to go bigger (90/145), jets r us chart has you measuring the height of the jets to determine compatibility, mine were 8mm

FYI, Kehin jets and Mikuni jets have different deck heights. Which you probably know by know. But one will not work in the other. So the compatibility chart is rather useless with that info.

The kehins are taller (hang lower in the bowl).

I'm not correcting anybody. Just throwing the info out there for ya 870.
