Newbie here!

WHATS MISSING???

OK, so i have picked up a SR250 Tracker style bike.

This bike has no lights, ign switch, rectifier or electric starter so has to be push started.... this is the wiring i have on it:-

It only has 2 wires coming from the stator which go to the ecu.

2 Wires from the ecu to the coil via a kill switch.

Coiled is earthed and has a live feed from a stand alone rechargable battery. ( this battery has to be charged via mains and only lasts for 3hrs )

So my question is.....whats missing to get the battery charging from the generator?.....should there be more wires from the stator going via a rectifier?

If I understand correctly, the concern is just the charging circuit?

If so, there are usually three white wires coming from the alternator. These lead to the rectifier (which is combined with a regulator, usuall). From the R/R, you then get a ground and a voltage output wire. Many units will also have a voltage sensing wire. Output wire should go directly to the positive terminal of the battery and the voltage sensing wire should get voltage when the bike is switched on.

Thanks Sonreir.......Yes just the charging circuit.

SO LIKE THIS:-

Yeah. That should work.

Optionally, the black wire can be connected to the switched power (so it only sees voltage when the bike is turned on). That will produce a slightly higher charging voltage.

....would it be possible to do away with the BATTERY and replace it with a BATTRY ELIMINATOR?

Possible, yes.

You need to test it though.
