Week got at it today, Sent my wife out shopping, usually bags me lots of garage time with no disturbances!

Tore the carbs off and took them apart.......looked like tar in the bowls have them soaking. Yes all that black crap in the bottom of the pail is from them.
The cams look great nice and clean and the motor has tons of compression. I'm going to roll the dice and start the build without getting it going 1st which I said I wouldn't do......oh we'll hope I don't regret it.

Started at the tank and got the knee indent in one side, love my body hammer and my mini ball peen........ Now the next trick is to do the same on the other side! more to come
Question.....does anyone know of a nicer gas cap that will fit that tank?

Hey thanks guys, it's my 1st time doing this to a tank.

I have both sides done now but still need to clean them up some more. I did end up stretching the indents out a bit more.......lets just say I was a bit too eager on the second side, anyway it's done now.

I want to start on the seat, I think I am going to take a crack at doing my own with glass there is lots of great tips on the site so I should be able to get a good gauge on getting it started.

1st coat of bondo on the tank.......
Ran out of hardener so I will finish it up tomorrow night.

Not to sure how I am going to build this beast, weather it's a true throw back with the braced front fender etc. or do a new style cafe build............hmmmmmm

Love the hammering on the tank. I'm tapped on mine a bit. Waiting for a day when the neighbors aren't home so I can knock it out...literally!

The hammering was fun........something new for me and it was loud!

Hey look what the bike fairies brought me! A 650 front end with wheels and clamp ons, new bearings and rebuilt forks, the rims are a a bit oxidized but nothing some steel wool and mothers won't fix!
I also picked up an RD400 frame and Daytona tank I will start collecting parts for this build I love 2 strokes.........back in the day I owned an RD400, RZ350 and the bad boy RZ500 wish I had it still had it but decided to sell it when I was knee dragging at a 130mph in jeans......young and stupid!
