Newby - I'm going to need some help!

Hi All

I've just 'come into' an Ace unexpectedly. I saw it on Gumtree on Friday - picked it up Saturday. I got it with 1500kms on it, so I'm off to a good start.

I'm coming from a Harley 883 Iron with V&H side shots, so I'm going to need to make this louder. I read all 110 pages of the resource thread but I'm still vague.

Am I correct to say that I need to cut the exhaust at the weld point, get a 25mm extension, then buy a muffler tip? Does the tip need to be welded on?

I'm pretty handy with the tools but I don't weld. I'm also not very astute, so I'd REALLY appreciate a step by step walk through with a link to the parts I need to buy.

Cheers

A good start indeed!

A grand for a bike barely run-in seems very reasonable.

As to the exhaust question: I don't think there are two Aces with exactly the same solution to the exhaust replacement dilemma. If you are from Oz, as your moniker would suggest, we may soon have a home-grown, bolt on solution available.

I'm awaiting detailed information which will be posted as soon as I get it!

Hi Crazy

Thanks for the reply and all of your contributions to the 'resource' page. You certainly seem to be the expert on these bikes and I've learnt alot from your posts.

I am in Australia - Canberra in fact. I eagerly await details of the bolt on option, I am keen to get rid of the current exhaust ASAP.

With all the merge lanes here in the ACT it is important that other road users can hear the motorcycles around them! I've been riding a vespa of late and I would get run off the road at least once a week by oblivious drivers. That never happened on the Harley!
