Nixon tries to fly

Hell Mike, if you get enough parts, we could have a build party at Kiley's!

Hey! I like that idea! Or we could just all converge on his house and perform motosurgery one weekend there too...

Lets do it...seriously....there is a nice fresh 1200sq ft. facility that will be done by then....

You guys are too much.

You've got me thinking though.

I'm thinking about making it into something a little more comfortable to ride, something where my hands wouldn't go numb after 45 minutes of riding it. Something like a bobber. A little bar hopper that can have fun in the twisties, but not too much. I will have to go through all the parts and see what I can salvage.

Maybe we could do a "Barber Build". I could figure out everything I needed and buy it at the swap meet there. Then at night, whoever wanted to could work on it. I wouldn't want to take anyones time away from the event/races.

Or maybe we could do something like DCC did where they actually built a bike at a show. If it is set up like last year, we could have a DTT build booth where we build a bike during the show. I don't know what kind of tools we would be able to use though (power/generator requirements).

Sounds like a party to me!!!

I'm in! If we set up like we did last year (haven't confirmed yet) there will be power available somewhere. But I'd suggest we wouldn't want to be welding or anything up there.

I think they are planning to build in Kiley's shop, not at the park.

I am so in.

+1. Either at kiley's or at barber. Let's make this happen! Shall we set a finish time for prior to the Saturday parade lap?

That would be great. I know it meant a lot to me to have my bike ready for the parade lap. We worked on my bike till midnight the night before, an took it for a test ride the next morning to make sure it was road worthy.

I'm in !

Okay so how about this.....heavy fab (welding, etc) at the shop over the cold brews....and assembly, etc at the booth on display? I can't think of a better way to show what DTT is all about! Mike, sounds like you need to get a design going while your crippled ass is being lazy and hopped up on Lortabs!

Wheels are turning, sir, wheels are turning. They've got me on oxycodone right now. Makes me tired and it is hard to stay focused on work.

I may start a separate thread on this. I like this idea very much. Going to have to get buy in from the boss. She hasn't banned me from bikes yet but she isn't happy about all the money that just got crushed like an empty beer can.

I think it would be very cool to bring my trashed bike to Barber as it is now. Tear it down on Friday and do what we can there. Do whatever fab work needs to be done Friday night at the shop, then do the reassembly on Saturday. I don't think it would be ready by the parade lap though. Also, we wouldn't have any time to do any painting. We could make a list of things to do so someone can came work on it for an hour if they want during the day and would know what needs to be done. Again, I don't want to take away from anyone being able to enjoy barber.

If I can make Barbers, seeing as how the dragon is looking less and less likely each day, I'll show up with every tool I have. This just sounds like one of those things that shows the cement that holds this place together. It will def. get some recognition at Barbers, and maybe they'll even give us a shoutout during the awards ceremony. Good publicity!!

I was in until Fix started air humping the idea

Aw what the hell... I'm in, but I'm not touching anything with air splooge on it!

I don't weld or paint, but I'm pretty handy with all sorts of hand and power tools. I'll help out wherever need be ;)

Hells yeah! Can it be a Barber without someone showing up with a busted bike anyways?

Just so you know Mike....there is a paint booth in the new shed...its a 9x15 negative pressure booth. And the paint s shop is 5 minutes from here with on site color chips to choose from. Grab a few cans of spraymax and we can do whatever you want....you know im pretty handy with a paint gun....;)

Stop being so damned humble, Mike. Stuff like this is exactly what I enjoy about the get-togethers.
