Nobody interested - or just too busy ?

Considering we claim to be the home of Cafe Racers - there's not much movement from the Brit forum ???????????????

I would guess it's because the majority of the users are from North America, where Brit bikes are expensive and generally hard to come by.

We've got a fair number of folks in the UK - maybe they're just too busy riding :) Still riding weather out there TJ?

WELL - YES UNTIL LAST WEEK - TOTALLY UNSEASONABLE WEATHER [ takes caps lock off ] dry and sunny with temps in the mid teens - 13 -15.
This week we have minus 2 - 4 overnight hard frost in the am and not rising much above 4 degrees in the day.

That's from the Midlands South .....oop t' North they've had snow and blizzards !

Bit of a pain as my new donor TR1 arrives next week and it's all up and running....... quick trip to the MOT station, and I'm mobile again !

The plan is to use this to continue developing the RAM parts - shocker, plug leads [ wires ] and I'm hoping to sort out progressive springs to do away with th air assist on the forks.

I also need to road trial the Amal mk 2 carb Conversion I'm working on and the Siamese Vincent style exhaust.

66 Rep - the majority of users on the DTT / UK chapter are building Japanese bikes !!! WE can't afford Brit bikes.

I'm building Yam TR1s and BMW Kay 100s.

maybe when the weather picks up a little more, there should be a gathering/party planned? or maybe a "what event you attending this year" thread, so people can organise their own meet ups. or maybe a Uk projects/build thread so we know what everyone's doing. just my oppinion

Sounds good to me ..........................

I will almost certainly be at the London International Classic and Custom show on the 28th Feb if anybody else is about?

I'm also planning to do the festival of 1000 bikes this year, I may do the Hot Rod Hayride and I will be at the Shepton Mallet Auto jumble later this month. I'm open to suggestions for meeting up, but I may not be on the XS if I don't pull my finger out and do some work on it LOL

Maybe there are more Brit members active on the forum than we think and we just don't recognise them as Brits because they don't visit this section very much (or at all) I like the idea of putting a copy of our build threads in here, it would be nice to see what everybody is up to without searching for build threads by Brit members. How about having a signature image or banner that uses the UK chapter DTT image which we could all use to promote the UK chapter and this sub section?

Maybe more of the Brit members will surface when the weather warms up a bit? I know my garage is chuffin' freezing at the moment and sometimes I have to make myself go out there, that and the fact that I'm absolutely rammed at work means progress on the XS has slowed up so I haven't had much to report on the build thread.

As Surplus says, maybe some sort of party/gathering or even rally, Iv'e got a lovely campsite which would be ideal if it wasn't for the fact it's in another country, I'd certainly be up for a meet in the UK after the spring, as long it's not too far north, I'd be happy to help out as much as possible, although not sure what I could do 250 miles from Calais. Could bring some cheap booze I suppose, Iv'e seen them Indian blokes with about twenty crates balanced on their Honda step thru's, so I should get at least twenty five on the Airhead, not sure about the aerodynamics, but it can't be much worse than the original barn door fairing.

I'mm the same as pixie ,its bloody freezing up here in the north west.ide love to work on my bike, too busy at work, too cold at night, too nackered at any other time.so i spend my time finding new projects to do on the bike.and going on bike forums. i do go on this forum more than i post on it. as soon as i can afford to get some parts and it warms up ill be busy puting her back togeather, can't wait to ride again..

Have been pretty busy :( . Almost finished my MZ project and waiting for the weather to warm up so i can try her out. Just started on a trike project to build with my dad too. Getting a HUC frame and scrapping the one that the trike came with as its a horror story! . Going to the Southern Show and auto jumble on the 11th March at ardingly to try and get a few bikes for the trike.

Like the idea of a UK project subforum. As much as i like some of our american cousins builds i like seeing our home grown ones more 8)

It has been bloody cold, Tim and I have struggled to spend too much time in our workshop, there's no heating at all. Rolling stainless cones for our chambers is noticably more difficult when the sheet steel is freezing cold too.....

We've got too much to do....currently rebuilding an LC350, and part way through cafe builds on Gt750, T500, CX500 and GS500. Also waiting, are a DT250, and a T500 based street scrambler. We also have some improvements waiting to our own rides.
On the bright side, the weather does seem to have warmed up somewhat today.

Titan, Tim and others - know EXACTLY what you mean !

We've had [ Midlands ] mild weather for nearly 2 weeks now - by mild that's 6-8 degrees cent. for my cousins in the deep South [ US ] talking about BBQ's and such !

The ice has just about melted on our lake outside. It was 6" thick 3 weeks ago - the thickest in living memory.

Never mind - soon be Easter. then even sooner Summer and before we know it we'll be thinking about fireworks and then Christmas ! Is it ME - or is the World spinning faster these days? It couldn't POSSIBLY have been Winter 2011 when I said I'll have my Fighter of the road for Spring ::)

What you say sounds interesting, I'm playing around with a blog site to support videos of cafe racers i.e. profiles of owners and their bikes, I'm aiming at bike porn, that's the bikes not the owners!!

If I can help in any way message me please. The site is part of my degree and I want to create a Top Trumps kinda site for bikes with character http://nochangegiven.blogspot.com/

Let me know,

Bill
