Noob---My first bike build rescued a 73 CB500

A good compromise between look and comfort on the CBs are the 7/8" Norman Hyde M bars.

If you like the bike in that pic that looks alot like a Kengo "Heiwa" Kimura w Heiwa MC. He owns a bike shop in Japan. I have emailed back and forth w him a little in the past. A good guy. And I really like his builds.
Heres one I posted to my blog.

well i flopped them around and they look way better still might get some clip ons to try tho

and by this...you mean upside down?

cool old ride man. Yeah those bars are not good. Def spring for the clip ons a decent pair can be found on ebay for like 70 bux.

doing a little tidying up and trying to get something done At hillclimbs this afternoon gonna see who makes it over the top this year http://www.nitronational.com/

Yea...ummm No.
I understand when your excited...upside down bars look kinda like clubmans. AND you want to save a little $ for other neat stuff....but in reality. upside down bars, just look like upside down bars.
Try to find a pair of clip ons....you will be much happier. Because they are adjustable to fit you better. They will be much more comfy than the clubmans.
Ive got Tarozzi and I really like em.

I have mounted it "in front" at first.

Just put a bolt in from the bottom, the back holes from the lights holder, to the front holes in the triple

Later I shaved the bar holders of.

I'm making these if you want to shrink it:

I would channel the bottom of your seat so it sits on the rails more or even over them.
it is channeled i just have it sitting there it does go down over frame a littler bit more than pic but when i taped it i covered some of where it is chaneled (sp)

you may not have enough tire clearance. Check that. It will bottom out.
i never even thought to check that...hahaha j/k it is close but i think after i get new shocks, a little stiffer, it should be alright but that is part of why im gonna wait till i get more done on the bike before i glass it im hoping i have enough room for a hidden fender up inside

looking back at that last post about the not thinking to check that kinda sounded like a smart ass wasnt meaning to no sarcasm in text i guess

no worries bubba. however it wouldnt be the first time we seen a guy have to cut a new frame hoop and fender off to redo after it was painted and finished. that would suck.
