Hi everyone. Been lurking a bit for the last week while waiting to see if the bike I was thinking of buying was worth while and not more then I was comfortable playing around with

Got this bike for 400 bucks. Runs nice and smooth and is very clean. Only issue is a broken side cover.

I am not super comfortable with mechanical things, but am willing to try a few. Step outside the comfort zone. It's mostly cosmetic I'm going for.

My plans for this bike.

1- clubman bars
2- shorty exhaust or turn out. Is there a difference in anything other then looks between the two?
3- wrap the pipe. I like the look.
4- smaller instrument pod
5- seat mod

Question of the day. The trumpet silencer is welded to the header. Is this something that can be cut of at the weld and slip on a new silencer? Or do I need to scrounge up a new header.

This is my 3rd running bike. Have been bike less for a couple years. Hoping this will keep me smiling while I'm away from home working.

Wow man that bike is beautiful. That's a great snag for $400.

Be careful when you replace bars. Don't do it until you're good and ready to dish out some $$ for new cables. So many people put low bars on without replacing the cables and its bad!!

A short exhaust will affect the carb tuning and may result in jetting. You shouldn't have a problem cutting the muffler off the header, just make sure the OD where you cut is still big enough to accommodate a slip on muffler.

Thanks for the tips. I'm very excited to get this project on the go.

Thinking of putting shorty levers on the bike as well, but I'm seeing they're mostly available only for sport bikes. Are they usable on any bar?

Picking up the bike from the shop where it was getting its safety tomorrow. Then to the basement where it shall languish. Supposed to snow tomorrow. Yay.
