Not a cafe, but my custom seat on my GL

Been Around the Block
Almost finished up modifying the king/queen seat that came on my 78 GL. I'm going bagger with this bike, looking at a set of vintage Bates hard bags for it tonight to replace the disgustingly huge bags that were on it when I got it. I tore the cover off the king/queen and reshaped the foam to something just a bit less huge and ugly, then spray glued a layer of 1/4" foam to the seat before stretching the hand sewn cover. I still need to finish stretching/anchoring the cover, but you get the picture.
What it looked like when I brought it home...

How it sits at the moment...

Sorry,

I prefer the original. You are messing with a classic. Anything you do that gets away from this totally devalues the bike. Just make sure you hang on to the original bits when it comes time to sell.

Just my opinion.

In all actuality in 78 the GL came naked with a flat seat. Wasn't until the early 80's that Honda started dressing them from the factory. Every 75-79 Wing you see in full dress is all add on luggage and fairing.

Reminds me of the bulldog bike from nakedgoldwings.com

If you haven't seen it, you gotta check it out.

Keep up the work, looking better already since you took the stormtrooper helmet off the front.

THe Bulldog is SWEEEEEEEEETT. I'm not getting into anything that radical with this one. Just custom seat, different bags, and a lot of riding!!!
