Not anything cafe, but I'm thinking of buying an old goldwing...

...a '78, all tarted up with the farings and all the trimming, that i'd take off right away, unless I wanted to sell it. But I've never had anything to do with a shaft drive before and it gives me pause, has anyone ever had any dealings with one? Thoughts? Comments? Derisive criticism? The fella has had it stored, engine fogged, clutch tied back, etc... for a bit, but say it'll run and wants $750 for it. If nothing else, I imagine I could flip it for $1500 with a bit of tlc and elbow grease. Is that crazy?

Shaft drive is a good thing!

That's a purty bike. The one I'm looking at is a far cry from that though. If I pick it up, it'll be the heaviest bike I've ever owned by about 100 lbs. I'm worried it'll handle like a fucking brick. I can get this one, that looks in pretty good shape for $750, which I'm thinking is a pretty good price for a running bike. But for some reason, I'm hesitating on pulling the trigger. It might be more bike than I need, but I figure if it is, I'll just make it pretty and sell it to a big bike person down the line.

The GW carries its weight down low. At worst, it will be like driving an old truck. You could upgrade the suspension and turn it into a canyon carver.

i will bring one of my "old trucks" up with to the xs event and we will see lol

i may have to bring my supercharged one

sasa frassa old truck

Please come, and bring the Wing! I'm busy working on this rally. I can hardly wait!

Note what I said.

That's assuming it's worn out.

I like this one, too!

In this case, the owner doesn't much care, I'm sure. He's selling cafe racer parts. www.hotwingglass.com That bike only has to make a visual statement, and I believe it does. I'm speaking strictly as someone who doesn't know a thing about GoldWings and/or Weber carburetors.
