Not so vintage project 1 of 2

Yes I know I know its not a vintage bike. Flame all you want :p but I've always liked the look of the old cafe racers and vintage bikes, and I will be doing a cb of some sort project starting in a month or so (need to get in my track days fix first) In the meantime instead of buying another bike I decided to alter my current bike, why not right?? Here is my 2005 z750 in its current state, should be done in a week and a half. Dropped in seat, from clubman racing (thanks woody1981) to get an idea of the general look. Subframe will be chopped and a new one put on to decrease the seat angle. Want the bottom area to look clean, so battery will be relocated into the hump, electrics to be relocated under the seat, k&n pod filters arriving soon, tabs and other bits will be grinded down. Will have custom made rearset by me (ghetto styles). May put in chrome fenders or shiny black black ones. Currently has 636 front end upgrade with heavier fork oil and 1.0 springs, clipons, and 636 rear shock. Handles like a dream, still needs fine tuning. Still not as sharp as my 06 r6, but I love this bike more.

On order:
MIVV XCone exhaust
Speigler brake lines

Thanks to AC for letting me bother him with stuff I need welded or custom made, and having to put up with my crappy diagrams.
Big thanks to Yoshi for all his assistance in wrenching during the late hours (well late for me at least).

Props are due for the determination to do this.

Who ever said the style is limited to Pre-CertainYear bikes?

I like the concept. If I ever wreck my GSXR, I might do the same.

Not to be a dick, but I genuinely like the other seat better. Save the seat for your CB.

That seat could work, but only if you trim the fuck out of the frame, and I'm not sure you want to do that.

Yup I will. Back half of the subframe being chopped off in the next few days. New subframe that will accomodate the new seat, battery, and rear lights will be welded on.

+1 That seat is totally wrong for that bike.

Yea, It's very odd for that bike, but I can see it working with the subframe trimmed, so the seat sits over the subframe, sits more level, and a lot lower.

Definatly some potential to it.

This was in the Show-n-Shine forum a while ago.

Bike def. has potential - just need to hack/cut some stuff to make that seat fit/flow better.

i feel like the tank is way to angular for that nice seat you have on the back there. with a seat that is chopped that is more "sportbike" and angular. and then when you have nothing for that seat send it my way.

I'm just going to say I admire your rather large testicles.... but in a "lets go watch a game of Hockey" kind of way....

I think if the seat was painted to match, the frame chopped, a set of spoked alloys thrown on and a vintage style paint theme you'd be in business. Can't wait to see where this goes!

Oh and the exhaust needs to shortened up at the very least. I think 4-2 style pea-shooters would also help the vintage look

Done: Chopped subframe; wired up all lights and signals; removed exhaust (still waiting on new exhaust to come in) leveled seat.

To do: add bracing under the seat; install pod filters and remove airbox; relocate battery and electrics to go under the seat, get housing for instrument cluster; do something with the rear set; paint sides of front fender black or get short chrome fender; install speigler brake lines.
