Not so vintage project 1 of 2

Looks sweet! Great job!! Any integrity issues with the chopped subframe? What exhaust will you be running?

plumbers got the right idea... i think it would look pretty sick if your got a shorter can and raised it up near the seat, and put a guard on it so you dont burn the shit out of yourself.

Man that looks sweet!

I wonder what kind of tank would look the best on there...

Thanks guys..you read my mind about the exhaust sheild. The exhaust I 've ordered is much shorter and has a better rise and somewhat goes with the whole vintage thing, and better yet it's meant for the bike. It's from MIVV, called the X-Cone. Pictured below is the x-Cone exhaust on a bike the same as mine. The second pic is a rendering I did in Paint to see what the whole thing would look like. I plan on altering the mid pipe and exhaust bracket as I want the exhaust tip to line up with the end of the seat or at the very least not go too far past the seat. Third pic is a stock z750.

The seat looks awesome on there. Funny seeing everyone changing their tune once the seat was on. I think its great... can't wait to see the final product.

Good job.

I really like where this is going!

Were it me, I'd run a couple peashooters at fairly steep upward angles, one on each side.
As well, lightly polished aluminum fender and rear hugger would really cement the look.
I think you can get away with that tank too, strip it, polish it up and have it powdercoated "aluminum" and run the snot outta the thing!

edit for bad spelling

hey bud! i have cut a ton of stock exhust cans... i can walk you though it! will take nothing but some time... here is the last one i did not my GSXR... looking great man! loving this project! this can was about the same size as yours, cut 2 baffels out, and put it all back together, before that of course i heat painted it... but it came out great!

Done..well she's at least 99% done. Just need to shave tabs, paint side of fender, do something with the coolant reservoir (either paint it black or relocate with different bottle) I'll leave that stuff for the winter.

Got lucky and found an LED trailer brake light..nice and bright 8)

Thanks for the kind words folks..started collecting parts for the 360 build this winter...well at least using a 360 frame don't know about the other parts;)

That's perfect! I'd say black out the head pipes or use black header wrap, but the can and tail light are perfect...

That is a beautiful adaptation. Truly well done, I can't wait to see wait you do next!

hmm.... i like the can, but i still think an under seat ducati ass warmer style would be pretty killer.... but im really impressed with how it came out! congrats

Thats quite brave. To actually convert a well kept bike into a cafe is something. And the outcome is obviously very good. Not possible to have the taillight a little more flush.

Love this pic though!

Great Job! ;D

I've toyed with the same idea for some time now! You've got a unique machine there! ;D

Where's home for you?

That tail light looks like the one I have. Like you said it is brutally bright. I blinded myself a number of times wiring it up :D Helps to be seen but I think it may annoy some people behind us at a stop light ;D
