Odd Electrical Problem. Please Help!!!!!

I was out in Santa Cruz last weekend, and had an odd electrical problem. My bike ran fine all the way to SC and then once there it started to lurch... The power was cutting out. It was loosing electrical current, and the lights on my gauges were going out then back on, then out, then back on.. The bike was essentially turning it self off. I could keep it running by 'bump' starting it from the momentum I was carrying. But if I pulled the clutch in, the bike would die. I finally checked my connections and the terminal on the starter solenoid was melted... I changed my fuse, wrapped the terminal in tape, and limped home. It seemed to do fine for the most part, as long as I didn't raise the rpm too high.

I got home and replaced the started solenoid terminal coming from my wire harness. Swapped the fuse again, and the bike started fine. I also checked my regulator and it seems to check out okay. However I have a new one coming in the mail. It can't show up fast enough...

The problem seems to persist though. I took it out just now and the same thing happened. I cruise along just fine, and then suddenly it starts lurching, loosing power. I stop, turn the bike off, and then back on, and it starts right up. Then just a few blocks down the road, it will start lurching again.

I also checked my battery voltage, and it's fine, while the bikes off, and while the bike is running. It seems to be charging correctly and all the current is flowing as it should. Anyone have any idea what could be causing this to happen? It's now beyond my knowledge.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Check the main fuse holder. Sometimes the solder deteriorates and makes for a spotty connection causing this issue.

Yep. Thanks Sonic.
I took apart the solenoid and the backside was melted too. I called the local shop and they had a universal solenoid capable of handling double the amperage, the bike runs much better.

Thanks for the suggestion
