Ohio area noob "ish"

Hey all, i've been lurking for a little while and I thought I'd post up! I picked up a ragged out GS750, have been amassing parts to put together a bit of a cafe. I have some work to do! This is how it looked when I brought it home. A few things have changed, "trimmed" some un-needed bits of the frame, added some pods, wrapped the header and have the tank in primer (minus the dent).

I bought some clubmans, I need to raise the triples because the top of the forks won't allow the clubmans to fit. I would like some smaller less obtrusive gauges ( any suggestions? ). I trimmed up the front fender, painted the frame black and removed the rear fender all together! I will attempt to build my own fiberglass tailsection, fingers crossed. Need a new set of tires and a battery, and I should be up and running!

I'm in Wadsworth, just west of Akron. I'll get some new pics soon, I got the forks lowered and the clubmans on. Now I have to do some re-routing of cables and wires, then I should be all set.

Just thought I'd add up some pics of where I'm at. The clubmans are on, and the wires and cables are "kinda" routed. I cut down the original seat pan and trimmed up the foam to make a single less obtrusive seat. I also wrapped the headers, I just need to get some silicone to coat them with. Now I need to get a battery, tires, tighten the chain and figure out how I'm going to mount the tail section. I'm going with the original tailsection for the time being, maybe next winter I'll tear it back down and build a better setup out of fiberglass, but for now I'm going with this. I plan on using the back half of the seat pan, bolting it to the current pan, then attaching the tailsection to that. I'll use the original tailight for the time being, but may make a trip to a truck stop for a smaller light. Just for giggles, I'm keeping all of the parts I removed or cut off just to see how much weight I'm shedding. I'm curious to hear what everyone thinks and I'm always open to suggestions because this is my first build. Thanks!

BTW, I'm curious how everyone is attaching their seat pans. I've trimmed the hinges off the pan, and I'd planned on maybe using small u-bolts attaching the pan to the frame. What is everyone else doing? Also, once I wrap the foam in vinyl, how do I secure it? I have some ideas, I just want to see if they are close to what has worked for others in the past! thanks again!

Check out the "Tanks & Seats" section for some great posts on this. There are also a bunch of options under "Big Arse Projects." Welcome!!
