Oil in the alternator. WTF

I just cracked open my alternator to turn
my engine over to adjust
my points and oil came out. I don't have a clue what is going on. Anyone?

What bike is this? I was surprised to find out the Honda CB360 has oil in that area as well by design.

It's a CL350. I probably should have included that in my original post. If this is by design, great. But it isn't anywhere in the clymers.

Are you saying oil came out of the alternator cover? That's normal, there should be oil there. If you have oil in your points housing, there's a leak at the camshaft seal.

It's crazy how that shit works... :)

I'm joking. Yeah, that's normal. You can actually drain a lot of the engine/gearbox oil from the generator (it's not an altinator).

Funny they refer to it as an alternator in the manual, repeatedly. But thanks for correcting me on such a pointless item.

I think I was caught off guard by the amount of oil. Thanks.
