OK - another CB360 electric starter battery query ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Been Around the Block
I've done plenty of reading regarding the CB360 and battery options but still haven't found a definitive answer so here goes:

I have a well running CB360, all stock, and I'm beginning to customise it here and there. K&N pods will be going on which then brings up the problem of the huge standard battery. I want to keep the electric start so I'm wondering which smaller batteries will be able to provide enough power and if I'll need a new rectifier/regulator.

I'm looking at these batteries, I basically just want to know if they'll work and if I can expect any problems with them:

And this for the rectifier/regulator (but perhaps I can keep all the original parts as they're working fine anyway...): http://www.dimecitycycles.com/12v-single-phase-regulator-rectifier-unit.html

Thank you very much indeed.

If you want to go to a smaller battery, a new R/R is definitely a must.

That R/R that Dime City sells a good one. ;)

With that unit, you can go to a LI-ION variant battery which is MUCH smaller and lighter than lead acid. Something in the 6AhEq range will work, but 12AhEq will be much better if you do any stop and go traffic.

Thanks. :)

They're the first and only LI-ION variant I was comfortable selling. The others just don't stack up when it comes to quality and reliability. Plus, this one is designed and manufactured in the USA, which is important to us.

Thanks fellas - much appreciated. Sonreir, are you shipping to the UK?

As for new regulator/rectifier, would a cheap option from eBay suffice as opposed to the DCC one?

Yup. We can ship to the UK.

For the R/R, the DCC one is the best value for money one that I know of (hint: It's our unit). I wouldn't go with a cheaper one. Better to spend a bit more on the R/R and get the extra life out of your expensive battery.
