Been Around the Block
Get this..call a guy 27 minutes after he posts on Kijiji..have a pleasant conversation for a few minutes then he gives me directions to his house ;he can't show the bike until the next day because he has friends from out of town that he is showing around but I am welcome to come up first thing next day.
I email him several times to make sure that it's ok for me to come to his place at 9 or 10 am the next day, leave my number.
My last email to him..":I'd like to come in the morning by 9 or 10, if this is a problem or if you have sold the bike to someone else let me know..I'd hate to drive all that way and discover the bike has been sold"
Guy lives an 1 1/2 hours from me.
So I get up in the morning..check my emails..no response..so I call his house 8:37 am..his wife answers,.." Hi it's me I talked to your husband about coming for the bike this morning..I just wanted to make sure everything is ok before I start driving up there"
wife says" Oh sure come on up, you have directions right"..Yes Ma'am your husband gave them to me yesterday..I'll be there in an hour..hour and a half."

What do you think happened???

I get to the guy's place at 10 am on the friggin dot. He takes me to the garage, shows me the bike..by the way I've been looking for this type of bike for a long time and this one he has is exactly! what I'm looking for.
So I look at the bike..he explains a few things about it..then says: "uhhh...I have a bit of a problem..an aquaintance of mine found out I had this bike for sale and he wants me to hold onto it until 2 this afternoon so that he can look at it...I kinda screwed him out of a bike before and I want to be in his good books and make it up to him because he is a member of this vintage club..blah blah blah....FACK!!
The guy was nice enough but fuck!! what happened to first come first served..how about some gas money for wasting your time.....I was offered..well if he doesn't want it, it's your's and I can meet you half way so you don't have to make the trip all the way back here..
WHERE ARE THE FUCKING RULES (COURTESY) WHERE YOU CALL SOMEONE AND MAKE A DEAL..I KEEP THINKING THIS IS ELEMENTARY IN TH E BUY/SELL GAME..WE make plans to give exchange cash for product..ok this is turning into a retarded psychotic rant...I've counted backwards from ten and am now in my happy space...rant out...

haha

we have been searching for a Jeep Grand Cherokee for the past month+.

Jeep 1: Dealer declined my cheque for $15,500 WITH trade in... Then try's to sell it to me again at $15,300 without trade in...

Jeep 2: Drive it, talk about it, like it... BUT there's a current lean on it... Wont be sorted out for about a week from now. We were ready to buy after driving 3.5 hours to see it... plus other little things are wrong with it. Thanks for the heads up on the lean and details like only 1 broken key before the days drive...

Jeep 3: Needs out of province safety... The guy thinks he can go in and have it done on a whim... Not so... Wont be ready till Monday. (3.5 hours away again) I was ready to drive down today and hand him a cheque.

Now I'm going home (10 hour drive) to look for a Jeep and hopefully drive it back.

Niice...
Update on this...muddda kunt...
Wouldn't you know..the guy he was holding the bike for showed up...and he had less than half the asking money for the bike even though he claimed he had the money to buy it..so I get a phone call..
sir....I got dicked around..the bike is your's..my wife said I should have sold it to you in the morning cause you were such a nice guy..so I'm driving back..an hour 1/2 to pick the fucking thing up..he's photocopied some nice articles about the bike for me....really he was a really nice guy but man I had to rant..ok I promise this is the last one.

What kind of bike was it?

And yeah i hate that, its happened to me a couple times... "oh i sold it before you came out".. then why didnt you call, thats why i gave you my number. But the worst is "Oh i cant sell it to you right now cus im holding it for someone", which is what you got. Why even bother having people over to look at it if they cant buy it? I never have people come over to look at something if theres the possibility it might get sold or if im holding it for someone, i always tell them wait a few days and ill get back to them if they still want it. Nothing sucks more than making a drive somewhere only to find out it was for nothing.

I remember the first car i was going to buy, i drove 4 hours to go see it... I called the guy the day before and he said it was still there, and i told him im driving 4 hours to come see it... Show up, its gone "Sorry man, just sold it, didnt know you were coming"...

I emailed a guy about a Honda Minitrail a couple months ago that was only listed for like 5 minutes on Kijiji. He emails me back within 5 minutes and informs me that it's sold. ???

Get an email from the same guy the next day saying it's still available and that I was the first person to email him so if I wanted it I had to come get it right away or he was gonna sell it to the next in line. ???

I wrote back asking him why he told me it was sold and he just sent a reply with his phone number. Phuckin crackheads.

I don't know, I just play by a set of rules..I make a deal..I give the person a reasonable amount of time to make good. I don't make them drive all the way out or when they get here tell them that someone else has offered more....I am a really even tempered guy..but I couldn't imagine driving for four hours to see something to be told it's sold..that is insane.
So well ...now I have the bike he has his money..I got $25 off the asking price for my trouble..I don't care now..I have the bike that I've wanted for a while..why I want this bike I'll never know..

OK one more....I sold a bike for $1500 last week and took $250 deposit. I gave the guy a new fender battery and fork seals on top of that got the bike certified and delivered it..only for him to say...you know I don't think the bike is for me man sorry...I want my deposit back, I'm sure you can sell it no problem..ya I can sell it no problem..but that not the point.

Haha yeah man thats the worst. Selling stuff is ridiculous, some people always expect outrageous things. Last year i sold my CRX to this dude, and he was super excited. The car was in pretty good shape, new engine dropped in with like 1000km put on it, body was good, underside was good (I had to get the rear cross member welded up so i told the dude to weld up anything else that looks sketchy). So i told the guy to take it to this shop on kipling near bloor if he didnt want any problems with cert, and hes like "Naw i got my own guy" and so i figured that was the end of it.

Next day i get this voicemail, which was left at like 3 in the morning, and the guy was like "Dude, youre so lucky i dont know where you live cus im going to kill you, that car didnt cert and now the floorpans are gonna get cut out!!!". So, against my better judgement i call this dude back, only because he knows where i store my cars and bikes so im thinking maybe hes gonna go down there and smash my shit up or wait for me there or something. Apparently the shop he took the car to told him that the underside was rotted out, and told him it needed the entire underbody replaced.. So i told the guy id go out there and check it out and give him some advice on what to do next, ONLY if hes not there when i get to the shop.

He took it to this ghetto shop up at kipling and rexdale, beside the esso station, and when i show up i know its bad news because theres about 35 old junked MG's in the back. I go in and instantly know what happened. Theres a huge dent in the rockers around the middle, both sides, and the cars on the lift with the doors open... So basically these idiots had the doors open, put the lift under the rockers thinking theyre frame rails, and jacked it up, car folded like a pancake. AND when i showed up, floors are already cut out and i didnt see a huge amount of rust in the pile of floor peices on the ground. I pointed out to the guy at the shop the 2 huge dents and the cut out floorpans (so i cant even see what "damage" there was before he started working) and he starts screaming at me telling me to get the hell out or hes gonna hit me with a wrench...

So i call the guy back and tell him if he wants to salvage it, tow it to another shop that can pull a unibody frame, order some replacement floor pans, and get that shit done properly, or worst case scenario, tow it back to his house and post up a part out on the honda forums and have people come over and pull their own parts, cus it was a fully complete 88 crx, way more money in the part out than he actually paid for the car... He tells me he wants his money back because its my fault the car wont cert, i tell him i offered the name of a reliable shop and its not my problem anymore. He started crying (literally) and tells me he doesnt have the money cus he doesnt have a job and is a student. I never talked to him again, but he sent at least 10 emails and left at least 20 voicemails alternating between saying hes gonna kill me and my family, and in tears asking for any part of his money back.

I have a good story about selling my bike that happened yesterday, but im still pissed about and i think i typed enough :D

Actually screw it this story is too fitting.

So i have my bike up for sale (reconsidering it now), and whenever i sell anything, i list everything thats wrong with it because i dont want anyone coming out expecting a full restored vehicle. So this guy emails me saying he collects vintage hondas and hes really excited, and asks if i can show him the bike first. So i say yeah, if you come out and are ready to take it that day without haggling, i can agree to that no problem, because i dont want to miss an opportunity to sell if youre not completely serious, and ive already got another 5 guys who want to come out and see it on saturday... He says sure, and he emails me every day last week to confirm that hes gonna be here saturday at noon. So saturday i get up early to go get a new battery and make sure the bike is in running condition for the guy.

Around noon i get a call and the guy tells me hes stuck up at York U and will be about 15 minutes late... Around 2pm i get another call and hes finally here, i go downstairs and see he's pulled up in a SUBARU STATION WAGON. I think "Aww fuck, theres no way hes buying it today". So immediate the guy starts complaining about all the things i listed in my ad, saying he only buys fully restored old hondas... So im thinking "Why the hell did you even come out here then?". He starts complaining that parts are hard to get and some of them are discontinued (only the mufflers have been) so its gonna be a real pain to get it to showroom condition, and he doesnt even work on his own bikes so its gonna be expensive, plus he doesnt like the tiny chips in the ORIGINAL FACTORY PAINT OF A 30 YEAR OLD BIKE. Plus he didnt like that i replaced some of the gaskets on the bike ???... So im standing there trying my best not to blow up at this guy for wasting my entire saturday because he brought his kid with him too, and itd probably suck to see your dad get reamed out by a 24 year old... He keeps asking about the price and how much i want, and i keep telling him i want what im asking but i can be reasonable, and he keeps trying to subtley low ball me at like less than half of asking, telling me "Yeah youre never gonna get what you paid", and im like "Man i paid 700 bucks and it wasnt running, theres a lot of resto work into this bike despite it not being showroom quality"... So eventually hes like "Yeah, im gonna go home and do some research and make you an offer later, but its not gonna be for the asking price".

When he calls me back im gonna tell him i got an offer above asking price and ill only sell it for like 2000 dollars now, and he needs to come asap cash in hand, otherwise no deal. Screw that guy, id rather burn the bike to the ground than sell it to him, honestly.

I have to tell you I laughed my ass off because i read your first story and at the end of it like me..you said you typed enough..then sure enough you couldn't hold it in and had to type the next story...I know where how you feel.
I'm reading the post and Michael Jackson is singing in the background...you are not alone.....
..
So after I talked to this dick this morning about the bike..he calls me and says I'm coming to get my deposit..I'll be there in half an hour..I'm no where near the garage so I told him to give me a call when he was on the way there..apparently he showed up unannounced ..knocked on the house door, and when no one answered, walked around to the back and opened the garage door..he calls me back and says he'll be there in 10 minutes so I told him I'm further north in the city and he says he'll come meet me and give me get his deposit back..so I said sure..give me a call when you are up here...he calls back...do you think I bothered answering the phone?
I've been called a super nice guy, I've bent over backwards for people buying stuff for me, I went out of my way for this guy..just to get screwed..I'm officially jaded. I'm sure it'll wear off in a day..only so I can be fucked over again..funny thing is..when guys like this show up..you can tell when it's gonna be a headache.

Never, ever, ever give the deposit back!!!! Not even a portion of it.They're loss fuck them!!! It is actually legal to keep the deposit. If these assholes start threatening you or your shit, call the cops. They can be charged. Too bad you can't do anything about the fucktards who sell before you get there, 'cause those inconsiderate idiots deserve to be knee capped!

When I bought my 350 it was from a vintage bike shop in the city. The owners son was getting rid of it. I wasnt actually buying, but trading a project bike for it. Anyhow. this place was well over an hour from me. After dicking me around a bunch about when we were supposed to meet up, we finally trade bikes. But when were done loading up the 350 he says... "oh man, by the way, the notary I use is closed today, so we cant transfer the title". I figure alright its in my hand anyway. These guys have been around forever. No biggie. He even offers to come up and meet me where I live so I dont have to drive down again. Well in the end he I found out that the bike was left there in exchange for services by a customer and the title is still in his name. Not the kid from the shop. Fuck. In PA you now need a photocopy of the owners ID to transfer a title. The PO is nowhere to be found. I was so fuckin pissed. In the end it worked out. We found a notary that did the transfer and I now have a title in my name, but I was out $60 in gas and 3 afternoons from driving out there 3 times. If the ass wouldve explained everything in the first place it wouldnt have been a big deal. Could've planned for it. Oh and what really got me was that he said he would cover my title transfer fees for all my troubles. Ya, that didnt happen. He paid to transfer the title for the other bike (which I held until I got the 350 in my name) and insurance, than looks at me and says, "Im sorry man Im broke after that. Its been a slow week." What the fuck. He had just told me about how his dad lets him have stuff like gear and parts at cost and just pay them off a little bit every week so I told him I would take a new helmet from his shop than since he was broke, and he says "nah, my dad wouldnt be cool with that." Oh ya? At this point I just wanted to be away from him. I left. Once I started tearing the 350 down, I was blown away by all the stupid little mistakes made by this kid when repairing it. Gaskets installed incorrectly, stripped bolts, etc...

I know there are lots of dicks out there..i just had to blow off steam about the one that is sticking me..

UPDATE to this thing..I know I shouldn't give the deposit back..but I was thinking about it, until I thought about how I was dicked around...
any get this..
I rent a garage( of a fairly easily accessible artist..meaning..google the house and all kinds of shit about her comes up including name and phone number)..so this guy googled the address to get the phone number of the house..him and his girlfriend called separately looking for me and told the owner that I they were afraid that I was dodging them so they couldn't get their $250 back.Funny thing is..they haven't tried calling me today! The owner called me just because she told them she'd call me to tell me..but she doesn't give a fuck what happens or happened..she told them not to call her back cause it's not her problem...Now I am really pissed..I recall someone saying kneecapping?!?! Sounds about right.
