I am building my first cafe inspired bike. I am planing on running mini gauges from Dime City on my GS550. I cant decide if I want to run just a speedo, or both speedo and a tach. I have a stock gear indicator I am thinking of trying to incorporate as well. I also cant decide if I i should keep the ignition key in the stock location or move it below the fuel tank on the frame. lastly, I am running clip on's, and have milled the stock bar mounts off the top tree. Any photos to help me brainstorm would be great guys!

what i don't understand is they make aftermarket speedo's and mini speedo's that go up to 160mph....

if older bikes barely topped out 125mph then why do they need to go that high, i wish they just made gauges that went to 100mph, 120mph, and 140mph... and tach's as well..

To impress people. I know a lot of less informed people assume the speedo indicates the top speed of the vehicle. My old ZX6 had a 180 mph speedo and people always assumed it would do that. I never managed more than 165 and I doubt it would hit 170 at Bonneville (indicated). I personally would prefer a speedo that matched the real capabilities. Car tachs are a problem too. When I was looking at guages for a Fiero build all the ones I liked went to 8 or 10 grand and I no engine I was looking to build would come close to that.

Gauges are kinda my thing...

Here's mine with the brass backing plate I fabbed up. I'm replacing the graphics pretty soon, though. I'm probably going to add some shift points so I know when I hit redline in each gear without having to run a tach.

I'm bringing this one back because I'm interested in seeing what some of you guys' gauge set ups are.

P.S. -- I want to run a tach/speedo combo without any indicators or other non-sense but it seems like they don't exist?
